Scott, I just checked my 79 308 GTS and the bottom half of the compressor is plated, what you are calling gold and it does have venting slots along the side of the unit. So you do have the orig. Fiamm horn compressor. Hook it up.

Scott, believe me that is the FIAMM horn compressor. However I don't know why it is gold or has ridges on it. But they do have the oil flap and a hose connection. You should also have a red hose that runs to the horn behind the grille. If the bracket is empty that is where it goes. Does your car have a horn? If it does some one has coverted it from the Fiamm to whatever. If your car doesn't have a horn, then hook it up. Oil it first.

Doesn't anybody have a repair manual and parts list for that car? Check the 30068 number. That sounds like a parts number. Then you know exactly what it is. Worst case go to Ferrari and have them look it up.

It sounds like the compressor for horns.

Is it an air horn compressor?

I have been working on the cooling system of my 1980 GTS and found this part just laying underneath the spare tire area. The part in question is obviously an electrical motor/pump. Its 2" around maybee 4" high, bottom half smooth gold in color, top half textured with vertical ridges. The top half has a nipple for a hose hook up and a little red rubber flap which says oil. On the top is printed Tipo M/O 12V Serie 2000, under which in large letters read FIAMM and then another series of number 30067, 30068... The electrical connections are on the bottom of the part. There is a mounting bracket on the inner fenderwell close to the radiator where I assume it goes. Likewise the headlight pod does not come up on that side (passenger). Any ideas? Thank you.
