Martin, I did not set up the arrangement with Smart Warranty. I referd to company to David Bobe to consider as a co-sponsor for the Sebring event in August 2002. I did not make the deal. The rest is history! |

Paul, if they had not paid before the event they should not have been allowed to be there. The guy was a professional BS artist if you ask me. Too slick. My guts usually have the right intuition and he did not feel good in there . |

Smart Warranty is out of business. Yes, they may still attempt to sell which without proper underwriting is insurance fraud amd criminal. JVR what you describe has to be addressed to the police and I would file a complaint with the insurance regulations office in Florida and your State. They will likely take this to the FBI and have them arrested on federal insurance scam. Sorry about that! Florida appears to attract scam artists of all kinds. |

Smart Warranty co-sponsored a club event last Fall at Sebring and come to think of it, they never paid their fee before of after the event! |

This sounds like something criminal, state and federal. Was ACSC their sole underwriter? Will they make good? Sounds like they've known about this alot longer than you have... |

from www.lamborghiniclubtexas.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5/14/2003 - Smart Warranty Problems Careful when purchasing a warranty on your exotic car from SMART WARRANTY (www.smartwarranty.com)! ACSC of Florida (their underwriter) stopped doing business with SMART WARRANTY in November 2002. Still, Smart Warranty continued selling warranty policies on Lamborghini: I purchased one myself in January 2003! A Lamborghini dealer recently stated "Smart warranty company is just a name with no warranty to sell anymore. ...The underwriter used to be ACSC of Florida. You need to call 1-800-824-7059 and ask for Jim Duffy or Claud Moore and tell them your story." I contacted ACSC of Florida. They stated that they had never received my application nor any monies from Smart Warranty, therefore I did not have a policy afterall! Even though Smart Warranty had no problem accepting my monies, and even following up with a letter stating that my application had been approved and I was covered... they cleverly "forgot" to send me my contact! Of course - that's because they NEVER actually got me covred, as ACSC had dropped them months before... Is it "fraud" or just a "slip-thru-the-cracks"? This is for the Florida Insurance Auditor to decide.
