Thanks for the kind words about the 220. Only dealer/distributor with computer in North America is in Muncie Ind. Short of this, service is NOT exotic but similar to other Jags (Not officially sanctioned by Jag [Ford]) but I have their master mechanic come to my garage and lift. Hardest part is "reaching" into engine compartment. I did have 2 engine fires -- scared the s--t out of me and son. Both a result of cutting corners by EPA, DMV, DOT on importation when they made the new '94 cats be replaced by aftermarket. No damage. I'll try to post some interior shots this weekend. Color was special. Blue also looks great. Sultan ordered yellow. There are some factory tapes showing construction of each car, factory tour, history and Nurburgring. There's a close cadre of friends/owners I keep in touch with. While they print 150-250 made, I suspect less than 100 LHD. At the time I got mine across, there were 19 total legally in US.

I think the XJ220 is one of the most beautiful sports cars ever built.

when I did the car guy tour we were in an upholstry shop used by Lambo & Ferrari eyc. there was an odd car in there which looked similair to a shortened taller XJ220. I asked what it was & they said it was a custom jag for the Sultan with an XKR engine, seems they fixed the lack of visibility on the XJ220 & made it more reliable, the XJ220 was better looking though

Dont forget the XJ220 won LeMans :-)

Ok, i'll concede, the brain-doc's car is catchy, but the shape still leaves something to be DESired and the wheels seem, well... boring, on a car of such stature... You know what rims would look awesome on this car...? The ones that continue to spin after the car has come to a stop...! That would bring it the life it needs...

Nice car, doc, not my first choice, but it's definitely a car to reckoned with...

Ronald, your car is GORGEOUS! I've never seen an XJ220 in anything but silver so yours just really stands out. I can see how visibility might be challenging, but it still must be a hoot to drive! I can't imagine the attention you get with that car too, especially in Tucson!

BTW, I believe ALL the new 220's have been sold from Grange where they sat in "car-coons".

I've been driving new '94 XJ220 since laws changed around 2 years ago. It is awesome with dyno'd 640+ hp out of 6 cyls and 0-60 under 3.5 secs. Twin turbos kick in instanteously and brakes are better than adequate though visibility sucks (I use several club members on either side to back up). see http://www.jag-lovers.org/snaps/snap_view.php3?id=993226408 While sticker price was $742,000 last few auctions at $95-115,000 failed to meet reserve. Most of the negative comments above seem to be personal tastes (I've driven my '87 Mondial cab daily since new -- go figure!) My favorite driver remains the last E-type ('74 OTS Jag) but this is a Ferrari forum.

See...? My opinion of it is changing, already...! :-)

Good luck when the thing breaks or needs a service. Maybe if i lived next to the factory (where like half of them are still sitting)...

Its a beautiful car BUT, it has less visibility than a Countach, the side windows are like 9 " tall :-) Where the H are you going to find parts ?? insurance ??

I think that car is beatiful, never seen one in person either but awesome is the word that comes to mind.
I read an article in a british mag and they mentioned that a spanish owner totaled his and the first thing he did was get another one.
Love the way the minor gauges are mounted in the door panel, and the rearview mirrors are not paralel to each other.
anybody remember the "fast masters" or some such crap in the early '90's? they brought over about a dozen XJ220's when they were going for about what? $750.000.00? and they put all these older indy racers from the '50's and '60's on the little mile oval at indianapolis and basically had a demolition derby with XJ220's,maaan i still weep when i think about it.
p.s. this is off-topic!! :-) :-) :-)

I think I'm right in saying that the biggest problem with the XJ220 was the brakes. They were basically totally inadequate for a car with this performance and of this size.

Dogs how? You mean they're slow? They wouldn't seem to be - with 550hp on tap. I always liked the exterior of these cars - very futuristic and beautiful. I hardly ever see interior pictures - I've heard the interior isn't very nice. I'd love to know more about these - like price, how many made, colors, problems/years to get, performance, etc. Seems to be so little info out there on these cars.

I'm with Tim on this one. When I first saw this thing, I was in love. Coming from a Jag family, this was THE car to have! Even now the styling is sheer sex (especially given how dated it is).

I'd go so far as to say that the exterior skin is far more handsome than the McLaren F1 (not funtionally - aesthetically).

It's a pity they're such dogs.

i must say, i really don't like the look of these things... i mean, i'm sure my over all opinion of the car would change given the opportunity to drive one, but as far as appearance is concerned, it looks too much like someone took a Vector and smoothed out all the edges... not a lot of detail, very watered down, not very appealing...

I almost bought one. Horrible car, worksmanship is appalling, interior belongs in a 1980 Escort, and according to the mechanic i had check it out, a servicing nightmare.
