I was never able to attend the Como Inn events, but the food was plentiful and the restaurant is/was a Chicago Landmark. God Bless. |

I just learned that Joe Marchetti passed away this morning. Joe was the owner of the Como Inn in Chicago and was the original organizer of the Chicago Historic Races as well as many other Ferrari and car events. I have a very soft spot in my heart for Joe. He showed a zest for life, good food, wine, and a passion for Ferrari. I hold him personally responsible for my addiction to these things as well. His Ferrari gatherings at his estate, named Montefiori, were always my high point of Summer. Even as a young college kid,he would make time to take me over to his Galleria Marchetti and show me his cars and his latest acquisitions. Then he would invite me and my girlfriend (who I think he had an eye for) to the Como Inn for dinner and drinks with him. Of course it was always his treat. He will be missed. May he and Enzo meet once again. |
