Thanks every one for all the kind wishes. Hopefully it will be a rewarding experience going through the restoration.

Hi Darren,
Happy to be a part of the registry. I hope more data will surface soon on the missing cars. Thank you! Geno Quote:

John,
Thank you for your input via PM, very helpful. I remember the dynamo being among the parts. Maybe the alternator was used to get the car have better illumination while it was a daily driver for the previous owner. Geno Quote:

Congrats and remember that it's the journey that matters not the destination...

Trev,
I am. I had tickets bought and a rental car reserved for the gentleman that would be in charge of the restoration to travel to Redline to inspect the GTE. Only to find out the night before he left that the chassis number was unfortunately removed off the block. Lost a few bucks in the process. They could of been more upfront instead of waiting till the last minute. Not to mention what happened before that. Geno

by the numbers
Nice find there Geno! As you mention the original color combination was white/blue did you also get a copy of the original Ferrari factory build sheets for this car? Maybe the 80's owner still has a copy of the build sheets tucked away.
They were readily available back then from the factory for a very modest cost. It usually took a couple of months for the factory to respond. On one car (can't remember the number now but it was in the 3,000 s/n range) they sent the build sheets for the wrong serial number. Only took a couple of weeks to fix that problem though with the correct build sheets. I gave Mr Roush a copy of the 'wrong' serial number build sheets but he said that particular car no longer existed according to his records. Glad to hear your car still exists. CH |

Thank you. I will ask for any materials he may have as well as in-period pictures during his early days of ownership when the car was red. This was just a inexpensive daily driver for him. I doubt he would of reached out to the factory for the build sheets...

Geno,
It is wonderful to see this car "FOUND". Hopefully, you will document and post it's return to life here. How did you find it? Shawn |

That is so awesome.
White on blue is a very striking colour combo. That will look great. GT |

Was the car found through a barn finder?
I don't need to know his (or her!) name but I am curious because I used to find Ferraris back in the '80s when not everyone knew how to use the internet. I could leisurely send snapshots of cars I found to experts and say "What do you think I should offer on this car?"
Now i think the internet has made it a whole new ballgame. Let's say I found that car you bought and e-mailed pictures of it at 12 noon on a given day. What do you want to bet that five guys wouldn't figure out which car it was; and where it was inside of half an hour because everyone I e-mailed a picture query to would send it to five other guys? I admit I "lost my mojo" and can't figure out how barn finders keep their find secret until they reach a buyer these days. I guess I'm not cut out for the fast track... |

As posted before...are we going to get a clue of paid value for a car like this....or just wait to see the value in Cavalino? Sitting on a barn find is sometimes frustrating.

It's in poor taste to ask someone what he paid for something, much more so in a public forum. A rare find is worth what any one person is willing to pay and it takes just one to make a sale. I'd be more interested in seeing more pictures of the car and knowing things like whether it has any oddities that make it different from other coupes, etc.
