So you took this innocent thread as an opportunity to drag up the past? Robert had no idea and some big accusations were thrown around about his intentions. I dont think a thread attached to another member who is quite reputable is the place to bring up old grudges.

I for one am happy to head about these cars for sale and what people are asking. And no, I don't like spam either. But I it's something a member thinks other members could be interested in then by all means, please share!

I think some of you are overreacting. There are rules on this forum for advertising. Just starting a thread about a car for sale without any other clear intention or question to me is an advertisement. That's not allowed here and this was kindly pointed out (at least by me).

So the OP wasn't aware of this and made an honest mistake, Bill was not involved, case closed.

Thanks guys for the second chance. I really should have perhaps made more clear my reason for the post. In our 308 section there is a lot of concern about spoof ads for our cars so I started with the disclaimer. I had no idea that there was a history here with the parties concerned and to them and you I apologize. These cars are so rare and unique that my first thoughts were to just get the word out to our members because after a quick search I could see that you all were not aware. That also made me a little paranoid as to if it was a spoof ad, so I posted. I will be more PC and careful next time.

Good day Peter and to others who are concerned about such a post,

Things are certainly a lot different over here than in the 400 or boxer sections. Routinely, I or others create threads about cars for sale and post links to where these cars can be found. The motivation of these threads are not spam or a mechanism to sell the car, but to document the car itself with details from the ad... like pictures, condition, mileage, colors, chassis numbers, price, etc. The hope is that those threads will serve as some form of documentation/history on cars should someone at some point acquire the car or perhaps are interested in the car. Further, it also helps others who may be interested in purchasing a car to be aware (good or bad) of cars available and the potential market pricing. That being said, I always remove any marketing info from what I post and clearly state that I am just documenting these cars.

From the feedback that others have posted they find these efforts extremely beneficial to all those that are interested in those models. Further these efforts have also provided information on cars that had some pretty serious issues that were, "ahem", not mentioned in some car ads. I am certain that the moderators are aware of my and others actions and although technically and formally my actions my be violation to the rules, the spirit of what I am doing is not and I am certain that they know this. If anything it adds another level to F-chat in terms of providing documentation on these cars, stimulates conversation in the car (color, condition, etc) which in itself may attract additional subscribers. Further, It is rather easy to do some recon on me or others to ensure we are not somehow connected to these cars we post about. Lastly, I find it quite disturbing that some members post comments and/or accusations without any evidence...Do these people not realize that their actions may affect someone's reputation?

Anyway, I hope the above provides some with the rationale why one would post data on available cars.

Cheers,

Sam

Bottom line is this would have been removed if it was against policy. Biggest issue this will cause is the fact that people will be afraid to post about cars they hear are available which a lot of us enjoy hearing about. I encourage people to post about cars for sale that some of us haven't heard of! If you are the one selling it, then make sure you post in Ferrariads first. If you're a dealer, pay to be a sponsor.

My apologies for taking so long to respond the many comments and inquiries on this thread. I have been traveling back East on pressing business and largely without access to email during that time frame.

For the record, I have never been banned for "spamming." Wayne sent me packing for responding to requests for info on a car that I had for sale. My company not being an official sponsor of the site, he laid down the rules and I accepted his decision.

A short time later he contacted me and we exchanged communications on the issues and he asked me back as there were a fair number of requests for assistance, help and info that I had always in the past regularly contributed and done so at no charge to those who asked.

My response to the post on this Ferrari Daytona followed to the letter Wayne's requests on how to handle such issues and comments. I did no post or offer this Daytona for sale. It was an informational response to dispel myths and rumors and make it clear their was neither fraud or risk that the Ferrari being offered was a scam.

Symbolic is a very small company. I am the only one who handles the sale and trade of our classic vehicles. Very few of which ever make it to public market. Our main business remains the sale and trade at institutional levels of vehicles from $500,000 to many, many millions of dollars.

If I do my job well, you will never even hear about those cars even being sold through our company.

The sale of a Testa Rossa last week and my travels back East are a good case in point. The three main machines and remaining 20 or so in that transaction will remain largely a secret until the are resold again or show up at an event, rally or tour with their new owners, sellers or at an auction house.

As for my contacting Gene and asking him to ring me on my cell phone, it had ZERO to do with anything related to the car he was trying to buy or the dealer he was having issues with. Gene and his wife are personal friends and not having access to email it was the easiest way to get him to call me while I was traveling.

My contributions to this site remain largely to assist and provide photos, records and notes for those who ask. The remainder are to try and assist with corrections and mistakes often repeated and posted and printed.

I have been playing and trading these machines for several decades now and not a day goes by that I do not both learn something new as well as invent new ways of making mistakes I could not even have thought of the day before.

Anyone who remains offended or troubled by the way I conduct my business and communications is most welcome to such an opinion... even of course if I believe them to be wrong.

Ciao,

Bill Noon

Vouvhing for Bill

I have had the pleasure of getting to know Bill and his wife somewhat better over the past few years. He is a true enthusiast, generous with his time, and helpful in all regards.

It is especially important to verify and reflect on Bill's post that he does offer timely assistance, advice, and access to his impressive network of friends "at no charge to those who asked." There are very few professionals in the industry who are as giving with their time as Bill.

It has been my sincere pleasure to work with Bill, and I hope to do so more in the future.

Forza,
David

I would second that, from my observations.

As Bob said:

"You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain."

Nice sales approach, I'm sure Mr. Noon will become a sponsor now.

no worries, I just took your post as a joke anyway. I don't give a flip what Bill does if he follows our rules. I don't cold sell sponsorships, all sponsors came to me first. Bill is fine if he doesn't post ads himself, contact users through our system for deals, and doesn't have shills. this thread didn't break a rule.
