Congrats Onno! She is absolutely stunning.

Very nice photo's!

Guys, I have seen the car yesterday when Onno picked her up. Must say this about the 330: IN PERFECT STATE!

Almost every pass is open now, very early this year: http://www.swissinfo.ch/ger/verkehrs...l?siteSect=490

Should be a wonderful trip, best wishes.

Hello, Matthew.

If the registration is 365GTC, the yes, that's the car!

Jack.

Onno,

I did the same....retired the Borranis from the road and found a good set of Campys and proper knock-ons and had them restored. It may be my imagination, but the car seems to drive better with the Campys.

Jack.

Well, I've done close to 700kms already in this car and I'm getting to know her more intimately now. Some impressions:

Firstly: she really pulls well - that engine sings and sings. But she's also very tractable at low revs. Where my Boxer is rather moody, this car is very happy to potter around town. For most of the driving in and about town, you don't get much of a sense of it's "Ferrariness". It's fairly quiet and comfortable, but above 5,000 rpms she lets out a wonderful roar that really lets you know this is a Colombo engine and racing pedigree is what she epitomises. The noise in tunnels is fantastic - although you can't hear much when your mate in the Challenge Stradale is in front of you...

High speed driving is also very impressive. I've had her up to and indicated 120mph and she really feels solid and very happy to drive that speed for days. You are aware that you have '60ies disc brakes, though, and anticipation is the name of the game. But she still pulls very strongly at that speed - the topspeed of 143mph (Car and Driver, 1967) is certainly very believable. When you rev the engine a lot, the amount of heat coming through the bulkhead to toast your feet is quite impressive. The aircon worked in the morning, to alleviate that problem (slightly) but I couldn't get it to do what I wanted in the afternoon. Wonder what's going on there.

What makes the car most special, though, is the whole sense of occasion when you drive her. You're actively involved with everything, scanning dials, having to switch on fans in traffic jams, managing the Autoflux, minding the warming up of gearboxes and so on. It's a lot of fun! One thing that is very different from my 365BB - speaking of warming up gearboxes - is that you have to be careful using engine braking. The gearbox switches very, very, smoothly but it does not like going into a high rev range when downshifting, particularly in 1st and 3rd. This is very much unlike my Boxer, which does not mind at all. It improves if the oil is thoroughly warmed up, but never quite goes away.

Finally, I noticed that she's quite reasonable to drive in torrential rain - unfortunately we hit a massive downpour yesterday. Hopefully she won't have to deal with that too often.

Tomorrow we head for Switzerland - can't wait to try those Alpine passes!

IMHO the GTC-shape needs the airvents behind the frontwheels.
