The PSU isn't hard. It's the 1st thing you plug in

The only hard part is putting the heatsink on the CPU because you need to put pressure on the CPU to clamp it down so you there sweating thinking you are going to break the die lol

Right now, I'm trying to decide what to spend the next 40 game bucks on - Kingdoms of Amalur or Skyrim.
ACIII is looking great

Get Skyrim ahead of Kingdoms of Amlur. KoA plays like a single player WOW game.
Also the studio that made KoA is bankrupt.

What are you going to do with the computer mainly?

If it's just gaming/web then you don't need a core i7. corei5 is more than enough.

You don't need a 1000w PSU. That's only for people that run multiple video cards and heaps of HDD's.

Don't you already have a burner on your current system? Just move it over.

Also you haven't factored in a video card. The onboard intel isn't good for games.

Ideally you need a SSD drive too.

The tiny plugs where a ***** for me. Not impossible, but did take a lot of double checking. I messed 2 tiny ones up and it wouldn't start and it took me about half an hour to figure out wtf was happening!

The CPU bit was scary indeed...

That's a great trailer. I might have pay up and get it in first release. Unless exceptional, I usually wait till a game's been out for a year or so and then buy it @30-50% off MSRP.

Thx for the heads up...definitely won't be getting KoA.

I've hesitated on Skyrim for awhile because frequent crashes occurred with both Elder Scrolls and Fallout 3, and didn't with comparable games such as AC Revelations and The Witcher 2.

I was still working in architecture when I bought my current system, and got a dual-head graphics adapter and set it up with two screens to switch between 2D and 3D views with my CAD program.

Building a pc has gotten much easier over the last few years, and it wasn't that hard to begin with. I think I built my first one about 10 years and had it together and running within the day. My latest I did about 6 months ago and only took an hour or two. You get so much more out of it too, it's cheaper by far and you can always upgrade to whatever is next.

Yeah BIG world games are problematic like that. While there are bugs in Skyrim most of them have been ironed out. They are still making content and patches for it and via steam they have Steamworkshop connected to it so installing mods is a breeze.

It's probably worth taking a chance on. Finished AC Rev and grown tired of hunting roving guards down and shanking them. I need a new big game.

Skyrim PC up, running, and smooth, looks good even at the lower settings I'm limited to.

Great game so far...I can play this one for months at writer's burnout breaks.

So I finshed Gears of War III (xbox360), and I'd have to say it ended a lot better than it started. I was pretty skeptical at first, not really into 3rd person shooters. Its an arcade style game. But the ending was terrific and well worth the 50 bucks iirc.

For people that play Ubisoft games on the PC the DRM they use has a backdoor. Please update to the latest version (2.0.4)

I'm now well into Skyrim, played for six hours straight last night. This could become a serious addiction problem.
