Would like to find a place around the DC Metro area (Maryland preferred) which has a variety of brands/sizes of SA2015 rated helmets to try/buy? Any recommendations?

Also, any recommendations regarding brands/models to pay attention to?

Not in MD, but OG Racing is probably your best option...

My new HJC AR-10 III comes tomorrow from OG Racing. HJC AR-10 III SA2015 Helmet

Every helmet is a personal choice. If you're only going to be driving a car with an airbag, then get an open face helmet. If you wear glasses and plan on karting as well, get a full face with a wider eye port. Some are lighter than others and so many other details.

If you go through OG, Brian at extension 114 is an old friend and old co-driver of mine.

Thanks for the HJC link. That is a nice deal for a 2015.

Have you seen one up close yet?

How's it fit in the 348? I went to my first autocross with mine and used a full-face motorcycle helmet, which interfered with the inner roof. And I'm only 5'10". So I'm looking for something with a lower profile.

I haven't had a chance to try it in the car, but I would be that it's a very tight fit if it would fit at all for me at 6"0".

    I'm re-learning that there's a huge difference between all-out racing and auto-crossing for fun. ;)

The instructor who rode with me gave some tips before we began about seating position, hand/arms etc. But with my helmet, slouching was the only way to keep it from hitting the roof (which was the wrong sitting position).

I used to be big into AutoX Nationally and instructed a lot with the local BMW club...

There's no way I can see sitting in a proper position with a helmet on and being anywhere near comfortable in our cars. Maybe with a race seat a hair off the floor. :)

Any updates on this HJC helmet? How does it feel?

    Thanks,

I've used it for karting several times now and it's been great. It's a very nice helmet.
