The black wire with the spade connector goes to the alarm module. It provides a deck lid unlatched signal . In the wiring schematics, the earth is shown as 70096 (ref: Fig.7 Suspension Control System diagram). Although the latch appears to have metal to metal contact with the frame, perhaps Ferrari deemed it necessary to have an additional earth. Cheers Ian
My car is a 95 355. So if is unlatched, when does the alarm go off? When the car is started or in gear or actually driven?
Right, Bob. I've also wondered the purpose for a 95. Perhaps the wire dead ends (meaning it was in place for a potential dealer installed alarm)
I guess my question is ...... What is the silver twisted cable that has been cut off go to ? About 1" below the bolt.
That is the cable that you pull to open the bonnet. There are 2 - one from the cabin and the other inside the fuel door.
That was my thought, why cut the cable ? I can't imagine an emergency release cable not working properly .......sorry that's a joke. Inside cabin one for the front bonnet, inside fuel door for the engine compartment ? On occasion I think about actually testing these, but fear they won't retract after I pull them ........lol
Inside cabin is the main bonnet release. Inside the fuel door is a second, emergency bonnet release. Just like inside the engine bay is an emergency release for the fuel door.
Oh ok, I will have to look at mine .......one of these days. Has anyone yanked on all 3 of theirs to see if they actually work and they spring back/retract after pulling them ? I think I did pull one on my 328, it did not retract until the dealer worked on it.
