Some of the best health care I've ever received is in QLD, second to none but then when I lived in NSW it was also great but sometimes you need to be more assertive to get the best care Neralee , being a nurse, makes sure I get the best care in the appropriate timescale but I use to do that myself for my family, just nice to have someone that can get what she wants Is Chloe alright pain-wise ? Poor woman has enough to deal with being with you
**** Pap, sorry to hear that. Glad that no one was seriously injured but I agree with others here…..get that CT done, who knows if there’s internal bleeding going on.
Poor thing, hope it’s not too sore. See, I resisted the chance to say “your dog rides a paddle board?” Olio Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
100%. Did I mention I’ve taken two weeks off work to look after Chloe and her broken ankle? Just saying…
Best wishes PAP. That's scary. Bad luck it happened, but good luck it could have been a lot worse. My thought is fork orf work and be there with them. They will appreciate it. And you will too.
So sorry to read this Pap. Wishing your family a speedy recovery. I had a phone call from Aileen Friday week ago and all I could hear was her crying and then a Police officer got on her phone to say she had had an accident but was OK. I asked where they were so I could come straight in and the Police officer didn't know (one of the new Police in town). He finally gave me a street name but couldn't tell me which end. I rushed to town and Aileen had been turning right from a T intersection with no traffic from the left and a truck coming from the right with it's left blinker on so she followed the car in front of her round but the truck was not turning. He could even be heard on dashcam afterwards saying that his left blinker is always stuck on! He panicked and locked up the brakes with skid marks about 20m long and slid to the wrong side of the road and hit her in the drivers door. Thank goodness Aileen's only injury was a bruised hip where she hit the door. Her Mondeo is being paid out as it's insurance value had dropped to about $9000 so our newest car is now the 30 year old Falcon wagon. Cheers, Al
Good news, Nicole called me yesterday afternoon at work and told me the head ED Doctor looked at her and they called in the local Pediatrician to come in and check her out and they both agreed to give her a CT scan because she was knocked unconscious. They were confident the results would be ok, but they were happy to do it. So they called in the Radiographer to come and do the CT scan around 7pm last night. They sent the results to Brisbane and came back all ok. They were happy and there is nothing to worry about which is good. They all got back to Mackay around 11pm last night, the accident happened at 10.30 am so it was a long day for them.
Yep, I think that was half the trouble with the original Doctor, didn't want to make the call to call in the Radiographer to come and do it.
Thanks John, appreciate the support. Definitely wish it didn't happen, but I am grateful it wasn't more serious for my family and the young back packing girls. I am not sure if I posted this or not, but Nicole told me yesterday afternoon at work that a Chevy Silverado was coming the other way and just missed t-boning those girls in the van by seconds. A big Silverado doing 100 km/h t-boning a 1990's Toyota Hiace van would have been fatal for sure. Fortunately, the driver of the Silverado was an off-duty Firemen. He was first on the scene and Nicole doesn't remember any of this, but he opened her door and cut her seat belt off to get her out. He then cut the belt off the sister in-law and helped her out. That's when they realised they couldn't open the back doors to get the kids whom were crying. Plus one girl was knocked unconscious. The Firey climbed in the car and cut the belts off the kids and then helped get 2x girls out, he then jumped in the back and kicked the **** out of both doors to get them open to get the other girl out. But they left her in the car until the Ambulance arrived as she was unconscious and of course they all thought the worst initially. If anyone of them ended up in hospital or had worse injuries, I would have flown out yesterday afternoon for sure. But they "walked away" from it, so they will be ok for now and I will fly over this Thursday morning when I finish night shifts to see them. Cheers again mate, appreciate it.
Cheers Horsey! I will see them this week and I definitely will. I am glad some common sense prevailed last night at the hospital and they got it done. Very happy that she is ok, as she copped it the worst by the looks.
I reckon the **** tard wasn't paying attention JM. Wish I was there, I would have choked the ****. His dash cam alerted his boss man/company owner immediately, so I reckon his trucking company would have a pretty sophisticated GPS/tracking system in it. And I reckon, hopefully.............it will show what speed he was doing, throttle position/percentage, braking percentage etc etc The QLD Police have already text Nicole the QP report number for insurance. We don't have access to it, only insurance does. I wish I knew someone in QLD Police that would read this report for me and tell me the details of what that truck driver was doing. Grateful he didn't kill anyone.
Cheers Doc, appreciate it. And glad they got it done for her, she's my baby and we wouldn't have not had it done. Whether it was Prosperine or Mackay, we would have got it done and I am thankful she's ok. Nicole also told me last night they all had x-rays and they saw the other twin has a cracked vertebrae. The Doctor said she's lucky she's still growing, it's a small crack and it will heal by-itself. But told her to take it easy, nothing too crazy for the next few months and she may have some pain and discomfort because of it. I haven't called them this morning to see how they all slept and how they feel, but will do so soon, will let them sleep in if they still are sleeping. No school for them today.
Of course they care, I am the main man in the Maintenance Department. Nah, it's all good mate. I will fly in this week and if they need me I will take next week off and stay with them no worries. Kids are tough and resilient, it's us parents that hate seeing them hurt or upset.
Thanks Al, I hope you have been well. And wow!! Sorry to hear about Aileen! That would have been terrifying. And very glad to hear she only has a bruised hip as a t-bone crash can cause some serious damage. Lucky you have the old ED Wagon to rely on again.
