Late in December 2015 I posted a “Unique New In Box Hermès “Espace” Attaché-case in reinforced carbon-carbon.”

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ad-archives/508379-herm%E8s-%93espace%94-attach%E9-case-reinforced-carbon-carbon.html

Then in January 2016 empty nested wife and I moved to the West coast and most of our stuff ended up in two storages facilities here in Portland, where the attaché went into hiding (from me). The moving people put it into a 24x80 mirror box, so it's not surprising I had a hard time to locate it.

Last week we finally moved into our new home and I opened a few boxes and voilà, I found the attaché case and I am putting it back for sale.

I would be happy to take new pictures if anyone is interested.

Thank you Wily! Does it scratch easily, or is it 'look but don't touch'?

The one I had for years, the largest model, aged very well. It was scratched once when the airline decided it was too big to fit in the cabin of a small commuter airplane and threw it in the luggage hold. I sent it to Hermès who restored it to as new. After a few more years and many trips, I sent it again to Hermès and this is the time they lost it (stolen in a courier truck if I recall properly) hence the saga I describe in the post #1's link.

I think you have a typo....$16,000? You mean you "lost" a $16000 briefcase in storage and didn't tear the place apart looking for it?

I didn't think it was a typo but I too had a difficult time understanding misplacing a $16,000 item and not be more persistent and diligent in trying to find it; however, the significance of the money/value is relative and we all have different priorities.

This is a bit off topic but be reassured there is a long, detailed and very boring explanation for that. :)

The short one is that the briefcase was where I didn't expected it to be: under my nose in a mislabeled moving box.

Now that I finally moved in my new place, after almost a year of remodeling, I am starting to unpack the paintings and mirrors and that's how I found it.

I am still looking for parts that have been in boxes for more than 20 years, so don't feel bad.

It is never a life or death issue anyhow :)

    GLWS!

i have always created a very detailed inventory with prices for the moving insurance companies. i have moved 16 times. several times things have been lost, and i pulled on the insurance so it is well worth the effort.

what i always wonder though is where the lost items end up. sometimes they are most likely stolen, but sometimes they are not items worth stealing or easily stolen...i wonder if there are other people in the world that end up with the stuff delivered to their house and there are random other boxes there. do they tell the mover? does he ignore it? do they care? or do they not open the boxes like alberto, so they dont even know they have somebody else's stuff?

ah the mysteries of the world....

No Ross, you did not quite catch my message.

I do have all the boxes, it is a matter of sorting them all out, just as Wily.

Only once did I receive something wrongly addressed, promptly returned it.

    Misplaced, yes, lost, never :)

    Regards, Alberto

PS. In my adult life, I have never moved, just accumulated
