The Touring F12 is much much better looking than the F12. It would be a much more worthy successor to the Maranellos than either the 599 or F12 are. Imagine that car with princing horsies all over it, a total distraction from the purity of form that Touring have created yet again. Too bad everyone ticks for and pays for those silly crests on the fenders. Having the money to buy a new Ferrari obviously is independent of possessing a sense of form and beauty in a car. I only own a manual 575 so what do I know hey?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. The factory decides what's a worthy successor or not.

These days the factory doesn't always seem to be the best steward of the Ferrari heritage.

Innovation requires to move forward not replicate the past. Ferrari do a pretty great job of canabilising the old model while still keeping the heritage alive with the new model. Otherwise they would be Porsche:).

What I am interested in knowing is how does this body perform vis-a-vis a standard F12 with respect to drag and down-force?
Ferrari always talks about styling due to aero-performance and I always find it hard to digest their claims. Although, I do like the aero bridge on the F12, it would be great to know if it actually adds a significant amount of down-force.

    The aero bridge does work!

I regularly cruise along at 200++ mph (up to 220mph on the speedo) and the F12s stability is outstanding.

The 458 for example is more nimble overall but is a lot more nervous at 200mph.

Each is allowed their position regarding design..and I disagree with you.
I think the Touring version looks weak sauce.

I think given your picture of the 575 and my F12 with a similar color and angle...the purity of my F12 stands supreme.

To each his own. Oh, and I owned a Titanio 550...so what do I know hey? (Love the 550 btw..more pure than 575)

I think the F12 looks better but I saw the Touring out at Pebble Beach and I thought it looked very nice in person. Its a very nice one off.

We have been conditioned to respond to sharp creases, scoops, and sculpture. Unity of form is sacrificed for what is called "aggressiveness" or "drama." The 458 was a pleasing exception as was the 550 and 575 12 cylinders. Alas after awhile these new designs assault the senses, as if they are begging for attention -- "Hey, look at me." But many of them give the impression that you could see them as graphics in a tire ad.

    Fire away.

I think it would be a minority position that the F12 assaults the senses.
It has beautiful flowing lines to my eye.
I do think the aero bridge is a bit contrived however.

Actually I do like the F12. Its devices are interesting and they do fit together well. The rear is esp. well done but the new VS takes all of the interest away --no matter, they will sell all they make and everyone will swoon.

I also love the f12, probably my fav Ferrari since the f40, certainly the most beautifull front engine v12 since the Daytona, although the 500 was very good....but this work from touring is just pure class and athing os beauty...

Intersting styling discussion. I rather like the 599 over the F12 for which I find the volume balance awkward but the detail is exquisite.
I rather like the relaxed concervative elegant Lusso design, but hey I own a 456.

The more I look at the Lusso, the more I like it...except for the tail. It looks way too squared-off and blocky compared to the way the rest of the car flows along. For whatever reason, it's one trait of old Ferraris that doesn't translate over to modern cars.
