.. what were/are your top 3 reasons?
1. Gambling debts and bookie has a hitman out to kill me 2. Valid medical reason and need money for medical cure 3. Need to sell it for LaFerrari or... A Cessna Citation
If and when I do, it will be because: 1) I need a 4 seater 2) I crave more power/ newer tech/features 3) parts become scarce 4)it got boring, didn't have time to use it, etc.
1. An airplane is cheaper to maintain 2. Plummeting market value. (seems like the Porsche 996 of the Ferrari world) 3. About as reliable as the second coming.
The defroster vents warped and before I started with them I traded to a 3000 mile 430 Spider. Other then that I loved that car.
Someone likes the shape and rawness of my 360 3-pedal so much that they are willing to trade me their 430 3-pedal for no money exchange lol
I have died and my wife refuses to honor my last wish of a Viking burial by burning my dead body in my car and posting the video on YouTube and has instead put my Ferrari up for sale. Either that or I went broke and need the cash.
I have toyed with the idea of selling my car to get a 599 but even that has been a bit of a hurdle. Really, I am thinking that we need to own both the 360 and the 599.
Funny, I was thinking the same thing.........people are telling me no due to the rarity of my 360 (color + manual transmission).
Definitely not true. You are spouting something you read or perceived. I doubt that this is based on any real experience. Sorry if that is insulting but seriously.
I just got done dumping 14k into mine. No, I didn't abuse it, take care of it as best as I can, and it was running perfectly without any "symptoms".
I've had my CS for more than 4 years now and only routine maintenance except replacing the headliner. Going in for belts and annual soon. Even with the upcoming service, I will not haven't spent $14k. Care to tell us what you had done for that ?
I've posted a ton about my car so I won't bore everyone with a re-hash so if interested look for my posts and sale ad. Not trying to be rude.
Yes Dave, I read your ordeal and sorry for your experience. It can happen but isn’t the norm. I have had my car for about 12 years so I have a pretty good idea what ongoing costs are for these. And yes, I have had a 10k bill. Think 3000 to 3500 per year for maintenance plus tires. That assumes you use an Indy and don’t do much of the work yourself. The 430 isn’t much different over the long run.
Car ownership is all about the experience. See have it good, some have really low expectations and some have it bad. Luck of the draw. And there's always reason to complain about the experience. On the 996 note.. it would be buys a 996 for $18,000. Drives it for 2 months and "it's the best car I've ever owned". Then IMS bearing blows. Costs $15k to fix. Tries to sell car for $7k and only gets 2 offers for $2 and 3k respectively. A year later sells it for $2k to get it off the driveway cause they're sick of it. Complains that Porsches are crap and should have got a M3. Or, gets a red 355 for $60k. Spends 10k and gets the engine out belts done. Car spends 2 months in the shop. Then goes back in because air conditioner crumps out. And then because the alternator needs to be rebuilt. Complains about how its always in the shop. Water pump despite being new starts leaking 8 months later even though rebuilt when did the belts. Spends another $3k fixing that. Complains that the 20+ year old car is so expensive and is always in the shop. Decides to sell it. Only gets "lowball" offers for $50k and 45k after 8 months on auto trader. Keeps the car but always wonders if they should have bought a 360 because they're more reliable. (note I didn't use the term "valve guides" or if spider with top issues or misc. electrical won't run right issue) Or, gets the 360.. but buys a cheaper version to "just barely get into a 360 spider". Then proceeds to complain about the expense getting it up to snuff and then the lack of buyers for an F1 spider when puts it on the market. "You shouldn't loose money when you sell a Ferrari". Deems them the 996 of the Ferrari world. Thinks he should have bought the 355 he was searching for in the first place. Sound about right?
