Preparing for my next service at Auto Gallery in Calabasas. Considering replacing the rear shock accumulators and possibly actuators. My car had shocks rebuilt two years ago but seems to be riding high in the back, not sure of the cause. Per 456 WSM specs, the right rear is about 222mm and the left is 216mm. What would cause this?

That is not a function of either the actuators or the accumulators. It is a function of the leveling valve.

Why don't you let them diagnose it?

I replaced mine when I rebuilt all my shocks and rebuilt my actuators only because of all the hype about the issue, but truthfully mine were fine. I just figured if they were fine, they may not stay that way, so better do it while we're on the subject

I've had loads of other problems and my suspension failure light is on, but the shock actuators work fine; Craig at The Jag Shop said there's apparently a communication problem in the computer somewhere. I need to take it to the dealer to diagnose why the computer doesn't understand that they're working fine. Any ideas?

Just changed mine, now suspension light on. Have you been able to extinguish the suspension light?

    Thanks

The suspension light is from my understanding a result of actuators on top of the shocks not a problem with the shocks. It may be the actuators aren't fitted correctly or the plastic internal gear may have failed.
Have a look at Captain Z site as he covers Vets Ferrari and Maserati actuators

I replaced my accumulators. The suspension light was not on before or afterward. However, you could tell something was wrong with the rear suspension when the accumulators were bad.

I have never replaced the shock actuators.

Had mine replaced earlier this year with BMW accumulators. No suspension light before or after. I did notice the ride and stability of the car was improved, but that could also be the new tires and alignment.

I had mine replaced with BMW ones due age and lack of use. I did notice a more floaty ride.
Selecting Sport ties it down. I also need new seals in the rear shocks for the classic reason.

I replaced my accumulators a month or so ago with the BMW units identified on other threads here in FChat regarding this subject. Mine were bad causing one of the rear shocks to explode (Hydrolock) and the other to swell the shock case making them both unusable for rebuild. Thankfully, I located a pair of good donor shocks that Rob at Delta Vee did an excellent job rebuilding. The actuators were reinstalled after a thorough inspection and as others have said here on this thread, there was no suspension light on before or after. The car drives and handles noticeably better.
