Image Unavailable, Please Login My tdf model arrived today, and so with great excitement I unwrapped it. Now I appreciate Blue Traveller gave the factory issues all along, but can only assume I have this gentlemens model in error. Poor iPhone pic, but in real life, almost a perfect match.
Tim does the serial number match? Even the color of those famous seats is wrong. Sure looks like the color combination for someone else. Just be happy they got your real tdF correct. I am sure they can build you another model in hopefully the correct 'blu traveller' paint color. Finding the correct color for those seats may be a little more tricky though...
Here is another blue 'tailor made' edition tdF. This time the color is veloqx indigo with yellow outline stripe detail. Highly polished wheels as well plus probably yellow accents for the interior to. This is one of his more 'conservative' designs... The blue army is still strong. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Belongs to the owner of the F12 TRS... the polish wheels belong to the past century IMO. Completely out of place on a "hardcore" Ferrari. just my 2 cents
Unfortunately it does, model number matches chassis number. Extraordinary how they could get it SO wrong. Totally wrong colour inside and out. Only accurate points are the wheels, callipers and the fact it is RHD. Why am I not surprised?
Tim, oh no, what a pitty... Hope they will fix it! But the repost from of2worlds with your interior made my day, i love it!!!
TdF vs Superfast comparison by Niki Hasler: Image Unavailable, Please Login Rosso Mugello with silver rims and calipers is stunning in my eyes!
They will in another 6 months or so. Only alternative is Amalgam albeit rather larger format and a substantially bigger bill. As to 812 or tdf? On aesthetics alone, that's a very easy one and the comparison just confirms the tdf as an instant classic to my eye.
Yes, Amalgam is an alternative, today much more expensive than years before but with a TdF in the garage i would do it in a heartbeat! My last tailor made Amalgam was my 430 Scuderia and it was very nice, altough the 430 quality is some steps behind the 458/F12 quality. And 100% agree, the TdF is an instant classic and in my opinion it will be a great classic!
I think there was an Australian customer (from Victoria?) who ordered Rosso Mugello for his tdF but the color is very scare on that model. Wonderful contrasting color combination with silver wheels and grey sport sills to!
Maybe part of the problem is the name of the paint? Here your paint 'blu traveller' has instant recognition. I wonder what the factory calls your paint choice when they communicate your build spec to the people who build the models for them. That still doesn't explain away that interior color they gave you...
Tim I bumped into your first post about the model you ordered and not being a color expert at all like others well know here, as soon as I looked at the picture I could tell that blue has nothing to do with the one of your TDF. Several months ago I wanted to make a surprise to a friend of mine who has a white 458 and after searching for sometime discovered on e-bay one model available named Fernando Alonzo 458 from Mattel. The series was numbered, the color was very similar as my friend's, the calipers yellow as well and despite of the fact that the rims were also black the shape was different. Anyway I bought the model on e-bay and when it arrived I had it at home for a couple of weeks and was very impressed with the details and the similarity to the original car. If Mattel can do it on a production basis than there is no excuse for a specialized and exclusive professional model maker to be so inaccurate.
Very possibly. It gave them a problem when ordered and, as many will recall, after struggling for months to get a sample to sign off, the wrong colour turned up, but at least it was close. This is so far off it's a joke let alone the interior. Mario, I did not order this, it is the 'free' model you get with the car from the factory and apparently the build sheet is passed from them to the model maker. In this case something went badly wrong and of2worlds may be right in that they have a difficulty with the nomenclature of this paint generally, but to be so far off?
