That was quite a Tour Group, Alberto!
BaT is so slow. I don't have 5 days to wait between emails...So, it's on eBay for now. We'll see what happens, I tried to price it well below "dreamland"...Who knows though (except my wife know HER E36 won't be parked outside this winter as we fight for the one garage spot lol )
Re-listed it, went H.A.M. lol, NO RESERVE, starts at $37,308.00 https://www.ebay.com/itm/122759073566?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Roll the wheel of destiny they said...It would be fun they said...
1981 GTSi - $13000 continuously stalls after warm up ??? VIN#ZFFAA02A5B0037511 no affiliation http://www.hibid.com/lot/79475-115835-61856/1981-ferrari-308-gts-vin-zffaa02a5b0037511-5/?utm_source=hibid&utm_medium=email&utm_term=TopPick&utm_content=y2017w46&utm_campaign=Newsletter
Market stall? There have been several pretty nice pre-cat GTBs up for sale lately with no takers at prices under 60-70K for wet sumps and around 100K for dry sumps...people won't even bid over about 50K for a wet sump or 75-80k for dry sump. Doesn't really mean much without sales data, but may reflect market sentiment?
Yes, the 308 market is dead as a doornail right now. But it's winter, which is usually slow. If spring goes by without a warmup, well, then the market is officially a bear.
I bought mine just before that bubble a couple years back. Couldn't believe my luck, and then "pop." Now I could sell it for what I paid if I was patient, but no more.
Just a healthy market adjustment going on ...on virtually all Ferrari .Don't hit the panic button just yet.
Right. Things are still up two fold from a couple years back...just not three fold! I still think the 3x8s are a great value as drivable classic Ferraris go. There's a lot of upside and, barring some economic disaster, not a lot of downside.
Went to have a look, mostly out of curiosity, at this 308 GTS today. The few shots are fairly representative of the whole car. It's the first evidence I've seen of one with over a hundred thousand miles on it; that mileage according to the CarFax when the car was last recorded. No indication how long ago that might have been. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There was one not a while ago for sale in St Louis MO at 111k miles and it looked amazing! Nothing like this.. this is just lack of care Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There was also an auction in the Netherlands. Old cars form The Gallery were being sold after being in storage for some time. Not the best cars. The 308 GTSI was sold for 29K (excluding auction costs), but will need everything. The 308 GTB looks allright though, but it still is non running car. https://www.bva-auctions.com/v3/nl/auction/index/29646?sortname=row-lot-number&paginator.sortorderdirection=asc&paginator.pagesize=25&paginator.pagenumber=1&page=8&category=9878484 Note: It is not certain if the cars were actually sold for these prices, because the seller could decide to not sell them if the results were not as expected.
This 308 GTS is listed by Coys for sale this month. Cos aren't the most transparent bunch, so we may not see a final price, and they can take a long time to upload results. I've copied the relevant description and estimate in case it disappears. The photos are dreadful, as ever with Coys. I've not seen an estimate that low on a RHD UK carb 308 for a while - does the driver's door look like it's sagging? http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1978-ferrari-308-gts-5 Est: £30,000-40,000 This beautiful 1978 308 GTS is a desirable Carburettor model, which are becoming increasingly difficult to find in good condition. Sold new on September 20th 1978 by Maranello Sales, Egham to a Mr Warner of Surrey. The 308 was later sold in 1980 by the then-owner Mr Cox, the mileage at this time being just 6,070 which is documented. Later passing hands to a Mr Brook who had the Ferrari for just a single year before passing it on to Mr Banks in 1981. Used sparingly at this time the 308 saw just 1,579 miles before being laid up. Recently recommissioned with a full service and cambelt replacement in 2017 the car is presented in good working order. The underside is clean and the body shows little sign of its age. Still in highly original condition this example boasts a wonderful patina, the original Rosso Chiaro paintwork shows off the lines of the 308 perfectly and the original interior, leather seats and matching black carpets have aged very well. Offered with a comprehensive history file containing many invoices, including a recent major service and timing belts change. Additionally, we note that the Ferrari is supplied with an order specification document from marque specialist Tony Willis and several documents to back up its mileage. With only 7,649 miles recorded, this is a great opportunity to acquire a rare model with wonderful provenance, which we are positive will prove to be a wise investment in years to come.
Seems about right to me. Laid up for a very long time. Steering wheel is odd. Exhaust tail pipes seem odd. Maybe additional hidden stuff means it needs 20k+ to get it right?
Agree plus the rear engine cover looks to be badly aligned..or maybe it simply was not completely closed? The RHD GTB dry sump in the UK are advertised at Stg 85 -120K+ at the moment. The GTS are all wet sump, and higher production so values are quite a lot lower..
Values seem all over the place right now - most GTS carb seem to be £60-80k, auction prices prob 20% lower (but often deservedly so) with the odd one up to £100k. At $130k, must make eyes water in the US! Really good cars seem to be pulling good prices still (maybe 10% down on 2015). There was a gorgeous silver vetro parked up in Mayfair recently, alongside 2x 458, Gallardo and Murcielago - few people would have guessed most valuable one in that line up. Or the most desirable!
