I did...it looks like a hybrid, the headlights indicate it has an earlier nose IMO.

No point in debating it...it's typical of HIRO to do odd things!

I would prefer to build the road version if any. I wouldn't turn down orders for the race version so we will see.

It does look nice, but I would prefer a 458 GTLM. I think the 488 is flawed in looks with those ugly cut out scoops and it sounds like crap on the track. Form over function, or more likely form over just pure ugly function(wich probably is not improving performance by much). I think I will order the Ford GT only.

Well the Ford GT and Ferrari 488 both sound like crap in race form. The 458 sounded wonderful. I hate TURBO'S!!!!

That brings up a great point. Wonder when model makers will make sound chips that can be included in models? with model trains, there is all kinds of sound that you can get, why not have a sound chip for at least 1/12 scale or 1/18 scale models - idle, rev up and down... start up, etc... or is there no interest?

I am sure they will...Hotwheels might have already done it??? Maybe Hiro could do a higher quality sound clip :)

GMP did put a working sound chips in their 1:6 scale Ferrari engine models. So you could here the revs etc as you shifted up & down through the gears.

Very true... They like to trick us. It will be interesting to see how well these sell. This is the first modern race GT cars they have done in 1/12th scale. Hiro does a lot better quality than most of the other 1/12th ready made companies.

It really is amazing that the only road car FORD GT 2017 kit available is the 1/24th scale Revell Snap together of debut 2015 prototype!!! I bet they will make a nice 1/24th and 1/12th diecast of the car sooner or later to join the ok 1/18th road version model already out. I'm sure this has a lot to do with FORD and their brand license fees. Carrera make a nice 2016 Lemans version as does Profil 24 in 1/24th scale. And now Hiro is doing the 1/12th race version. Maybe Hiro will do a road car also like they did with the 488 ?

Another new decal for the Hasegawa XJS 1/24th kit. With the Beemax Volvo 240, Fujimi BMW 6 series and Tamiya Ford you can build many of the FIA ETC mid 1980's touring cars. You can even do the Alfa GTV6's with the Hachette GTV Alfetta and Bermat transkit, but no decals yet. Luigi and Totip cars would be great :) Also I cannot believe no one has done a normal body Alfa 155. They won everything in class from BTCC, ITC ect. from 1992-1994. Maybe a diecast company will do it someday.

The new 1/24th Fujimi Porsche RSR 2.1 kit is now available and it is pretty nice. You would hope they would do the Martini decals for this car, but the kit has generic test decals. I am sure the aftermarket companies will do the proper Martini Lemans 1974 decals. This is one of the better new Fujimi kits I have seen in a long time.

What do you think of the Tamiya slot body Chaparral 2J (other than it's just a body)? I don't have anything to gauge it

You mean the Mr. Craft body made for the Tamiya chassis?? It is ok, but pretty basic. No one makes the correct wheels for a 2H or 2J, so you will have to design them yourself if you want it to be accurate.

Thanks Tommy. Basic is ok for me to work with. I can use the MRRN article to make the chassis (with adjustments) to make a curbside. Wheels? Well, only the fronts show anyway. I'll have to research them to see what I can do.
