    José Froilán Gonzalez, the first man ever to win a F1 race for Ferrari (British GP 1951) died today at the age of 90.

    Thank you for everything and rest in peace José.

    I have a large rendering on my wall of the famous picture of F.G. winning the British GP giving a wave to the flag man as he crosses the finish line. It interesting in the official program for the race Gonzales is not mentioned.In the copy I have the original owner wrote in his name and kept regular listings of his lap times and positions. He must have been a last minute addition to the team. Remember this was the first major event that the F1 unblown Ferrari beat the Alfetas. F G,s autograph appears is many of the the early copies of the Ferrari in Argentina book. tongascrew
