    Having lunch at the beach today got into a conversation with a dude who said he worked on the restoration of the ex-David McKay 250LM and we had some discrepencies re the races the car won and when it had been damaged which prompted me to pulled the old Sports Car World article out to check the facts as reported in the magazine.

    We all know that what is written is often not true but there is enough facts to get the story of these cars across.

    I've scanned the pages from the magazine so hope you guys enjoy the read, I know I did and I'll go through the rest of the SCW magazines and post in other articles, shame the magazine folded over 20 years ago :(

    Hadn't seen that article before. More facts: Owner before Mark Dees was Harry Morrow, owner (then) of Autobooks in Burbank, Ca, racer of a Formula 500 car, and heavy drinker (One had to talk to Harry early in the day to get a sensible response). I don't think the car was "in a shunt" during Mark's stewardship. Rather, Mark had undertaken the job of sorting out the doors, one of which was a couple of inches longer than the other. Mark was famous for crazy projects, a few of which actually got completed, but this one was NOT a good idea.
    Is Ray Helm still with us? A lovely gent; he and some of his pals from down under visited us for drinks (mostly) and dinner back in the day. We all had a grand time.

    After a few trips to New Zealand and many questions I can not find any evidence that the centre seat Scaglietti body that arrived on the ex Rosier Ferrari 375 for Roycroft has survived.

    It was last seen at Dunedin Road Race in 1962 on a Tec-Mec chassis before hitting a brick wall backwards.
    A lot of damage was sustained and although the Tec-Mec was rebuilt in single seater guise the sports body disappeared.
    It must be up in the rafters in some old shed somewhere so I guess it will be back again to continue my search.
