We do. For purely academic reasons, just fun for us old farts to reach back and figure out what was parked there. I agree that the big car to the right of the Citroen DS21 is a Merc, probably a 220 s. Next question, what is the little gray car just above the windshield of the Ferrari? Looks like it could be a Vauxhall or Opel.

I have pictures taken around the Casino, including nearly this angle, in December of 1963, so a little earlier than these taken in 1966. They include the parking lot on the back of the casino where the exotic cars of the era were parked. Any interest in having me get them digitized to post here? I also had pics of the streets of Rome in 1963 will all kinds of wonderful Italian cars, mostly Abarths.

I see the dark gray Fiat Spyder with the top up, either a 1200 or 1500, to the far left, then the Renault Dauphine, then the mystery car is the sedan between the Renault and the Citreon. It does not look like any Fiat that I remember. That sculpted rear end looks like a Vauxhall, but I am prepared to stand corrected.

I believe your correct. It appears to have a German or English plate on it.

A Taunus? Good Lord, what the heck is a Taunus? What nationality? I agree the convertible looks to be a Peugoet 404. Thanks you guys, this is fun.

Looks like the body that was on 0808 when it was offered to me; it had the alternate coupe body when it was in NY. Same color and everything. When offered it was said to have 2 bodies; I could have had either or both.

After the Ferrari the thing that really strikes one about the picture is that the Casino Sq. at Monaco, at noon, is empty!

No East Block tourists, no cheap flights and a world population of 3.3 rather than 6.4 billion did the trick. And if you wanted to go there was also Exchange Control. I remember that about that time no British citizen could leave England on holiday with more than £50 – and they frisked you in Heathrow to make sure you didn’t have an extra fiver or any traveler's cheques in your shirt pocket. If you had a credit card (and who did?) any foreign expense on it was part of the £50 allowance. Even in ’66 that would give you, what? Twenty minutes breathing air in Monaco?

    Please, more pictures!

I found a slide that I took of the park in front of the casino in December of 1963. The same Merc and Peugeot were parked there as in your 1966 photo. The Renault and Taunus were not there, but there was a Fiat 600, and no Ferrari. I must have stood about 15 meters from where you stood in 1966 to take my shot.

Sorry, guys, but the gold car is 0808 as it was offered to me in late 1965 for $7500, with an extra coupe body (which ended up on the car when Okada had it). The open body may have ended up on another car, but not in early 1966.

Can I ask about Okeda please. I looked him up on the web but it was hard to find out much about him. He seemed to have owned some wonderful cars and used them in a fantastic 60's style man about town way. Any more info?

I am now thinking it may have been 1965. I will check with my Dad to be sure. I do know I could not go into the casino ( not 21) so was out walking around taking pictures.

I'm not sure to understand :

Are you saying that the original Fantuzzi spyder body of 4381SA came on 0808 and that is the pic at Monaco in 1965 ???

If yes, which body had 4381SA at this time ???

Aardy: I don't have any knowledge about the LMB; I just know that the "gold car" as it was called by my contact Roberto Goldoni in Roma WAS 0808 in 1965. I had pictures of it (similar to the ones posted here) but unfortunately they were loaned to someone for an article in PH or Cavallino and never got them back.
Yale: sorry, I never met Okada--maybe some of the NY gang will chime in. I was told that he used his LM as a daily driver. If true he's a better man than I!

0808 was also golden, but it was a Coupe.

Sorry, still asleep. This most certainly exlains a few odd remarks about these two cars!
