    my new 1986 412 has arrived. Friend came to look, asked to see the engine, opened hood, he admired the lovely Colombo V-12, then I could not close hood, struts frozen and locked in raised position. HELP!

    That's a new one.....if the gas cylinder is at the lower end, (attached to the car, not the hood), I would spray WD40 or the like where the shaft goes into the cylinder and let it sit for awhile. The only way to get enough pressure on them to collapse when stuck would be to remove them and cobble up a fencepost/lever setup to try to force them to close. There are several threads as to where to get replacements....just in case.

    Unless someone has put locking struts in , the hatch on my esprit need to be lifted a little before the struts will allow the hood to come down.
