Sounds like a great idea! Let me look into it! Thank you!!!
Hidden Audio :: Hidden Bluetooth Amplifier That's an option...2 hidden speakers (i.e. behind seats) and you'll have a completely hidden sound system. Just stream audio of your phone (or radio if you use that).
One of my favorite ads ever, and that picture is my favorite pic of a GTO, followed closely by some of the ones taken of Lauda's car that are featured on your website and on the Octane article you wrote. That picture in the Yamaha ad, do we know who took it? I'd love to see a high res, proper version of it someday..
I think that image comes from a set done for an early USA magazine feature. Meanwhile Webb Bland's images of the Lauda GTO are here for your viewing pleasure https://www.behance.net/gallery/38770721/The-Lauda-Ferrari-288-GTO
That said, my personal recommendation for a music sound system for the GTO is the application of an original mild-steel Ansa Megaphone open exhaust system. Not only will your ears be assaulted with a beautiful symphony of sound, but following motorists will be highly entertained by the flame-throwing display your GTO will afford them on the overrun for their viewing pleasure. IMHO there no more important option. Unless of course you already have Megaphones. When I used to own 56331, I took it to be my duty to regularly back off the throttle at @ 6,000 rpms so that I could demonstrate this latter feature to other road-users. I once had a lady pull alongside at the traffic lights and motion me to roll down my window, which I did. She then uttered these immortal words: " Honey, you realize your car is on fire??!" I calmly responded that it does that all the time. The look on her face was priceless. I simply smiled and drove off.
two reviews abou "Ruoteclassiche" (quattroruote classic) single test (with figures!) Hifi IL RITORNO | Ruoteclassiche comparo vs testarossa: No Hifi 288 GTO e Testarossa, il video esclusivo | Ruoteclassiche
Sound from the Megaphonos @ open throttle is epic IMHO. Contact [email protected] and he will ensure you get a set made by the original Ansa craftsmen in correct-for-period mild steel to correct dimensions, last I heard it was circa 1800 Eu so its great value. At startup its not too loud: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2tnLzG_8mk[/ame] On the overrun it belches flame: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS5NMZ2ovNw[/ame]
Joe - for the benefit of the theme of this thread, can you please shed light on the megaphone exhaust tips? Were they a factory option?
I have been told by 2 different people who purchased new GTOs in 1985 that they were not officially a factory option per se, but the works could facilitate fitment.
I swapped out of the Tubi for stock temporarily for the Classiche certification. The difference is night and day with the stock being quite muted. I think the Tubi's do a very good job of bringing out the best of a turbo engine.
The Megaphone Exhaust is NOT Tubi! They are Ansa originally! The second Video Joe was posting is an stainless steel Tubi Megaphone. It doesn´t sound as rich and deep as the Mild Steel Ansa one! FYI: The original GTO exhaust is Stainles Steel.
What is the rationale for the odd steering wheel to seat angle/position in some of the older ferrari's? Question for Joe or any other experts on the subject
Probably best to pose this question in the vintage section. I find the steering wheel-to-seat position for the cars under discussion here to be optimum.
Here is a 288 GTO with a period radio fitted. Paul Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The no radio blanking plate on 56653 bothers me, because the GTO labelled speakers exist. But I can't find a period unit that I like.
Shiv, I just sold a 288 GTO which had a 1985 Alpine (7372 I think), you might like it. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
