    Hi guys,

I have a problem with Plexi glass windows for my F355 .
Anyone know how to fix the plexi glass windows, cause there is no fixation ?

Also I am thinking if I put out my original glass windows and put Plexi glass in the lifting mechanism (will slide it up) and take out the fuse which is responding for sliding up and down windows, so the windows buttons will not work.

    what do you think ?
    Thanks

Very good thread, please let´s get that sorted. I´m currently going through exactly the same situation. I´ve seen quite some 355s with a rigid frame around the lexan windows but none of the cars owners could tell me where they had been sourced from in the past. The Maranello museum 355 (the fake GT) has them, too. Probably the way to go would be contacting Michelotto.
I´ve browsed the whole net for a company making these frames for race cars (and a lot of race cars do have them) but with absolutely no luck.
Below some pictures from a 355 in Belgium.

This has led me to manufacturing a one-off solution with a carbon-fibre-frame. Hopefully by next time I´ll have had the time for a test-fit. Teaser attached... :)

but i think i will leave it all up , without metal frame.
glass windows weight much more , for plexi windows it will be even better in original lifting slider , just will not use the windows buttons ! i dont think metal plate is needed .

i found a photo with plexi windows which i have and there is no metal frame or anything else , so i think they put it just instead of glass windows

That will work just make sure the window fits tight to the top so it dont bounce in and out

Real nice window were did you get it? I have no windows now but would be nice to have some

If you still have the fixation from the original window-glass you should be fine, they look quite rigid. I got mine made from a specialised german manufacturer, 100% copy of the original glass but also with little slide windows. Around 500 Euros for a set of two.

But I´m still keen on those race-type frames. I´ll try to get an information from Michelotto.

Nice work Marius. Any pictures on how the frame was fastened on the inside? Any idea on what the weight saved will be using these windows?
Also working on the decals at the same time I can tell;-)

I used the original (glass)-window mounts as the Lexan-screens are a 1:1 copy of those. The carbon-frame just adds a bit more stiffness around the edges of the lexan. And looks nice, too.. :)
Didn´t put the parts on a scale but getting rid of the glass, window-motor & loom should take off around 6-7 Kilos per side, at least, probably more.
