At first glance it looks really nice. However... * The passenger headlight fitment and alignment with the hood concerns me. Check out the lower front 3/4 view and you will see what I mean. * Lower front chin area has some decent chips. * The right side engine drip cover is obviously missing. * What has dripped onto the passenger side intake? * Driver bolster worn, but appropriate for the miles. * Missing a Tenax fastener on the tonnaeu cover. * Slightly warped HVAC overlay. * Aftermarket Cavallino shields. (but they look OK) * In the few closeup pics with reflections, it appears to have been washed with brillo pads.
owner says the front bumper had been repainted but clean car fax. I haven't seen the car fax yet. No owners manuals. I hate when owners sell those things separate of the car. Bugs me to no end. also owner says: Replaced ABS accumalator New CV joints and rear axle Replaced Suspension Control Unit, gears on struts and rebuilt strut actuators Replaced Ebrake cable Oil and filter change At this service they also changed the top to manual operation. Installed new radio with bluetooth and USB. I have a Ferrari Logo car cover, new floor mats and new tool kit. No lights on the dash and runs great. Now the issues: AC stopped blowing cold, probably needs a recharge. Has some stone chips, front bumper has been repainted. Clear bra on the front is cracked needs to be removed or replaced. Tonneau cover one of the snaps just ripped. Last major was 2015 have that receipt and some others from prior owners. It drives great and is a ton of fun. Not a pristine example but if you want one to Drive and not worry about putting miles on a 355 this is it. It has been a lot of fun to drive.
26k miles GTB sold at Bonhams for 66k including premium. Silver on Cuoio. Someone got a screamin deal. ZFFXR41A4W0111485
Nice to see silver with something other than black interior. Car was recently listed at McLaren Boston: 1998 Ferrari 355 Berlinetta
Hey guys, I am toying with the notion of adding a 355 spyder to my stable and I prefer the standard transmission over the F1. I see two nice looking 355's for sale on ebay. What do you guys think of these cars and have any of you seen them in person? One is at Ferrari of San Francisco and the other is at a car broker in Florida. I'd also be curious to hear what you guys think these spyders are actually worth. 1995 Ferrari 355 F355 Spider! Manual! Red/Tan | eBay 1995 Ferrari 355 | eBay Thanks! Paul
1999 F1 spider sold at Mecum for $73k. There are 3 other F355 coming up today including a series Fiorano. A total of 44 Ferrari up for sale at this auction. Looks like Mecum has the Ferraris from a 1961 250 GTE 2+2 to a 2014 La Ferrari.
That's a big departure for Mecum. They are usually American Muscle machines aren't they? The few Ferrari's I have seen at a Mecum auction drew little interest and never got past the reserve. That many Ferrari's for them is amazing.
Mecum has stated on several occasions that they want to move into exotics. They also have a couple of 80's vintage Lambos, 71 Porsches dating back to the 50's, 8 Maseratis, nothing special except a 71 Indy and an 07 MC12, 21 Jags including some nice vintage cars from the 30's, 40's and 50's. Even a Fiat Dino Spider from the J. Geils collection (wouldn't mind owning that one). And $78.3k all in isn't bad for a 99 355 F1 spider at any auction.
The simple answer is Monterey. His other venues are not the best place for any european car unless it is something really special. If you want the best Mecum muscle car auction then you go to Florida in January. One other thing, Dana Mecum is a big F car collector and has shown some of his cars at the exclusive Cavallino show at the Breakers in January (like a 1954 250 Monza Spyder that took Best In Show Competition in 2016).
Paul, Knowing your location would be helpful. That said, I'm in the SF Bay Area. While I'm not a big fan of Ferrari of SF, I have not heard that they sell dogs, so I would guess that this has a better chance of being a high quality used car than something from an unknown dealer. That said, I wouldn't want to disparage the other dealer as I know Nothing about them. AFAIK, Ferrari of SF is the only company owned dealer in the US, (the world?)
Sure anything is possible, but on some colors especially ones that have been in the elements for 20 years, and especially in ranges where there are many hues, it becomes much more tricky. Sure, a black seat edge, not a problem. Sometimes it is easier to re-dye the whole piece (like the whole seat).
Yes, any color can be matched, to varying degrees of difficulty. However, the rub comes in how the two colors age against one another over time.
When responding to Alex's prior post, I did not think he was speaking of dye - I'm not a big fan of re-dying leather. I was speaking of new leather.
Man, if that car had the black dash and steering wheel (and stock wheels) it would be something else! Challenge grill offsets white nicely- I'd source the better I-venture (I think that was his name)/Yoshi style quality metal shields too if the ones on this car aren't the better quality shields.
Is that car in Miami normal white or pearl white metallic? Hard to tell in the pics. (owner claims to have the only one in that color in the US). Anybody seen it in person?
Has this example been discussed or linked before? I'm in the market for this spec - but wow they are asking a lot!? https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=440093999&zip=14127&referrer=%2Fcars-for-sale%2Fsearchresults.xhtml%3Fzip%3D14127%26extColorsSimple%3DRED%26startYear%3D1981%26sortBy%3DderivedpriceDESC%26incremental%3Dall%26firstRecord%3D0%26endYear%3D2016%26modelCodeList%3DF355%26makeCodeList%3DFER%26searchRadius%3D0%26trimCodeList%3DF355%257CGTS%26transmissionCodes%3DMAN&startYear=1981&numRecords=25&firstRecord=0&endYear=2016&modelCodeList=F355&makeCodeList=FER&searchRadius=0&makeCode1=FER&modelCode1=F355
That car has been for sale for quite some time. To say it's overpriced is an understatement. I sold my fully sorted GTS (recent major, valve guides, Fabspeed headers, Hyper flow cats and Capristo exhaust) for much less than that and the market was a bit better then. It seems pretty dead to me nowadays.
Given your assessment of today’s market, what would be a reasonable offer for that car? I too have seen it listed for quite some time.
