Anyone know the story on this "206"? Was it a period conversion meant to look like the 206SP? Maybe its not even a 206, will defer to the experts...

Description states "1 of approximately 150 original aluminum bodied cars built. Recently purchased from a doctor who has owned the car for over 20 years. Modified very early in its life, mechanically fine, runs and drives well, most everything works."

How is it possible to transform a rare and beautifull 206 GT into a messy thing like this? A poor work.

8 bids so far, up to $56K, reserve not met? Bidders identities protected? Please......
I understand if it were an extremely rare car, but this?

I think I am going to make some replica Dino seats ;-)

Why would they not clean up the engine compartment, etc. It looks trashed when you get past the red paint job.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to any buyer of this car, but there is so much work needing to be done, what are you planning on making the car into? Myabe a race car will explain the final result, but.....holy cow!!!

The comments in the last year about a GREAt 206 being valued around $300k are clearly true.

Wow that is a staggering amount of money for that car. Maybe the buyer believes what was written in the ad or maybe he's just way smarter than the rest of us.

i would love for some one to do a "bringing back to life" thread on this car, regardless of how it is brought back and what final form it assumes.

    Hi guys,

I bought this piece of ....

I promise you will be able to follow the restauration on this canal. But it will take some time, as I have to finish the book first and want to take some time to do a 110% job on this car. First a lot of research needs to be done. Any help appreciated.

The negatives are pretty obious to anybody who looked at the pictures. We come to the positives now. The car is still matching numbers, has it`s original engine. It´s only one of nine 206 GT delivered to the US importer Chinetti Luigi Motors. Original colour Blu Notte Met. 106-A-31, interior nero 161, production date 2nd of January 1969 and also delivered in January 1969.
And now the most interesting part: First appearence in the USA 22nd of March 1969, racing for the N.A.R.T-team with drivers Sam Posey and Bob Dini at Sebring 12 hours, number 38.

If anybody could provide pictures not published jet, would be very helpful. Especially pictures from the driver side and the back of the car.
Unfortuately beside of the roll bar there is not much left of the look of the Sebring Dino.

But with your help I`m very optimistic we can restaurate this car back to the stunning Sebring look. For me this 206 GT is the second most imortant Dino with race history just after the N.A.R.T-Le Man car #02678.

    Regards Matthias

That's really a great barn find, what a surprise. Congrats Matthias and all the best for your restoration project.
I'm sure all fellows here will do their best to help you.
Should have followed my first thought making an offer of 150k, my God, what a chance ;-)
