I am happy to announce that today is exactly the 1-year date that I flew out to Portland Oregon to finalize the deal for the 348 SS (#79) at Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo. I purposely waited for this day to apply for the paid subscription, so that the anniversary date of the FChat subscription is the same date as the day I flew out to close the deal on a dream come true. Here are some pics of that day.

The first pic is in a Best Buy Parking lot in Portland after driving it for the first time. The second pic is of it sitting on the showroom floor when I first got there, which would be the first time I saw it in person. The third pic is the first pic I took with it just before I took it out for the first time (the pictures are in chronological order, I suppose I did this backwards)

I will also be posting some pics on October 15 which is the day that it was loaded at their site.

Then on October 20 I will post some pics which is the day that it arrived in Port Huron Michigan for me to receive.

I was even going to scan the ariline ticket and hotel room key/card and post those pics but I thought that might be overkill.

Call me sentimental, but these are all very important dates and events in my life as I never dreamed I would ever actually own a Ferrari. Which takes me back to the "the worst Ferrari ever made" thread - ask anyone, who does not own a Ferrari or will never own one, if they had the choice to be given a 348 as the worst Ferrari ever made, what would their answer be? The people that think that the 348 is the worst ever take things for granted, which is something I hopefully will never do.

How was your ownership so far??

Assuming great, since you are still excited about the 348 a year later ;-). Everytime I look at my 308 (2 years of ownership): I till go - hell yeah!

Ownership has been nothing short of spectacular. Every time I look at it, I still can't believe it. I think I am going to do what you do - look at it and say "Hell yeah!!"

I live in Portland, and I also looked at that car when I was looking at Fcars last year. I, however, ended up buying a TdF Blu 355 out of Vegas. That yellow 348 sure was purrrrrrdy, though. ;)

Congrats man. I've had my 355 15 months now and can't believe that I, too, own one of these beautiful pieces of art. :D

I know this - you may not recall but I once asked you about this car when I first joined FChat because I saw that you were from Portland :)

Thanks, and congrats to you too. While I was there, I saw a 355 in their service centre that is identical to yours, so I thought it was yours. But since you got yours from Vegas it couldn't be the same one. I love that blue on your 355.

That is one great 348. It looks like it just came from the factory.

I really appreciate it when you guys start theses threads. They help me to remember, when things are crashing down around me, how lucky I am to own a Ferrari. It might not be a 250 GTO, but I love it all the same.

    I hope so Scott. :)

The living does look good for successful workers in the pharmaceutical industry, but I've not quite got my foot in the door yet... I'll feel like 'soon' is appropriate once I'm at work and the savings account starts getting bigger rather than smaller.

I'm starting to feel good about the thesis though. Just got to get that submitted asap and book the viva. :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I am also very senitmental about dates Mike. I STILL remember August the 28th being the day I picked my Betsy up!!:eek:

I celebrated the first 2 years of ownership by baking a Ferrari cake on the day, but I have been working the last 2 years so I didnt bake any cakes to celebrate. :D:D

Hopefully next year we can do it again. ;);)

    FANTASTIC thread!!!!! :D

That sure is one beautiful Ferrari!!!! ;)

Congrats on a year of ownership, Mike. :)

I have said it many times before, every now and again I remember, and I smile, owning a Ferrari, to some, is more than just owning a sleek sports car, it's the fulfilment of a dream that has captured the mind at a young age and become the catalyst for hard work and wise money management.
Threads like this are the reason I enjoy this site so much, to hell with "mine is better than yours, worst Ferrari" bull, or "valve guide issues" or any other issue for that matter, those of us that have worked so hard to make our dreams come true understand that having that dream come true makes all the hours of work, past and still to come, worth it.
The memories we are creating will last a life time, and that my friends, IS priceless.

I wish us all many, many, miles of high revving, pulse stimulating, adrenaline pumping, glorious sounding, fun. :)

    Thanks Todd, same to you.

Thanks Scott. As I mentioned, regardless what model, we are all very lucky to own a Ferrari.

Thanks Andrew. I am a very proud owner, and hopefully soon you will be as well :)

    Thanks fastmover.

Thanks PAP - and yes it has been 1 year already - time flies when you are a proud Ferrari owner :):)

    Thanks James, very well said.
