Offering my rare and fully restored 1971 Maserati Indy 4.9. This car has been the subject of an 18 month restoration documented in the Maserati section herein.

AM11649*1208* has been confirmed as a very early production Indy 4.9. According to Maserati Classiche's Historic Archives it was the 45th 4.9 produced out of 300. Additionally, *1208* is only 1 of 39 sent to the US with the 5-speed ZF manual transmission. When you add in factory air conditioning, power steering, Borrani Dial forged wheels, power windows and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio (which works properly) - this particular Indy is quite unique and rare. The Classiche documentation tells a story of an April 1971 order of the Indy by Grossman Motor Cars in New York with a production date of September 1971.

The Indy remains matching numbers and Maserati Classiche certified - with all original parts (engine, chassis, gearbox, wheels, steering wheel, console components, radio, jack and tool kit). A full restoration was completed in April 2017 adding fresh paint and interior, new 205VR14 Michelin XWX on all the wheels including the spare, complete mechanical re-build, electrical re-build, re-finished original steering wheel, chrome work, correct exhaust, re-done car seats, correct column switch, and much more. The Classiche documentation accompanies the car, along with the original owner's manual and receipts from all the restoration work. California registered with black plate "71 INDY" and only 37,591 original miles.

If one has never driven a classic Maserati it is a must. The performance is unbelievable, responsive, and classic.

Someone should want the best Indy out there - rarely does a 4.9 come to market and this one is fully restored, Maserati Classiche certified and documented, and all the best original options (ZF 5-speed, power steering, power windows, A/C, Borrani Dial wheels, and original working stereo)

    Awesomeness . . . . . and a fair price considering it's like a new car at this point.

I have come close on several trade offers which included the following cars, and at times some cash consideration:

    1. Porsche GT3
    2. Ferrari 308
    3. Porsche GT3/RS
    4. McLaren 650S

I mention this to those looking in their garages and wanting something different. I really like the idea of cars being traded and enjoy each time on this site when a trade has come to fruition.

You sure that’s not a 4.7? I thought the 4.9s had 3 gauges above window switches in center console and different wheels.

Great car for the money. The Maserati V8 is a special engine with great provenance. Especially when mated to a ZF trans.

Much appreciated Chris and could not agree more the Maserati V8 with the ZF transmission is a great combination.

Recent trade offers include Porsche 911T and 928S, Ferrari 328, and Ford Shelby 350R. I am reasonable and the trades have fallen through for reasons not relating to valuations.

Willing to trade for almost anything.
