Facebook Timeline
OK, I have Timeline for my business pages, but I have always turned it down for my personal. Now I have timeline and it is giving me 5 days to edit the look before I guess it is released to my friends.
What happened? Did I accidently accept timeline or are they forcing everyone to do it now? |

Thanks for pointing that out, Rob.
I just checked Facebook for the first time in a while, and I have a new Timeline Deadline, too. I assume it's for all users. Matt |

It is now a forced feature.

I hope I don't jinx myself, but I do not have it & see no notices about it coming soon.

Same thing happened to me this week. I thought I was the last one to not have timeline but I just got forced onto it.

Now IMAGINE the cool effect if everybody decided to protest their sudden "timelining" & completely stopped using facebook & logged into Myspace for, say, a month.
TELL me that wouldn't make some waves & engrave a rather interesting impression on NASDAQ's "timeline?" Of course, nobody is gonna bother doing such a thing, so I don't know why I even open my yap... Last edited by David_S; 08-13-2012 at 01:07 PM. Reason: ampersand |

I don't like it.
The "timeline cover" is a ridiculously wide and unusual aspect ratio. And all of the smaller newsfeed pictures are squares. Virtually everyone takes pictures with a 4:3 aspect ratio camera. No one naturally composes a wide or square image with their camera. So no one has those heights and widths in their photo archives. Facebook forcing us to adopt those rectangles and squares doesn't reflect what people already use. And two columns of newsfeed is unnecessary clutter. |

It's not unnecessary, it's foolish. How many media sources force you to bounce back & forth between columns to read an article? It's not user friendly. It allows for you to misinterpret the sequence of events on the timeline, unless you pay close attention to the little dot for each article. It's not linear... cancelling out the name "timeLINE". This is more like timeclusterf***! I make better websites & get paid ****, while these clowns rake in cash. Pisses me off.

Yeah, but on the upside - just think of the snarky users who insisted on migrating *from* FC *to* FB.

Though, other than that, I do have to admit I like Timeline. I hated it at first but then I grew on it after a few weeks. One thing they need to fix (along with the columns) is the privacy settings for your cover photos album. They're public, and you can't change it, regardless of your existing privacy settings. I understand why your current cover photo is public...but why the whole album? Makes no sense... |

I hated Timeline in the beginning, but now I'm used to it several months later. Unfortunately Facebook is forcing everyone to convert

They have automatically converted my FB to the new timeline today, was hoping they might allow people to stick with old style but no

This is interesting and potentially hilarious on so many levels.
