I Can See It Now . . . I recently got a shirt with those colors in all the right places - and it really pops.

I see that you are way down in straight line speed Jim. Whats the restrictor sizes and approx. HP? Great incar videos BTW. I was shocked to see the front engined SLS's as fast as they were in the technical parts

We're a good 100HP down from the GT3's. We're asking for more air.

Wow that is a lot... I really hope they give you a bit more air. It really shows on the long straights that the others have a lot more power...

I know I asked before but is there any chance of high-res pictures Jim? I'd love to have this one as my desktop background, it's just beautiful

You have to ask the photographer on or Face Book site.

Why are the air restrictions so severe for the experimental class?

All the best,
Andrew.

Balancing performance is always difficult. They now have data from the first race and can see that the GT3's because of their huge HP advantage on the long straight have a big advantage. We've asked them for a better balance. If they give us more air we will be more competitive.

It makes no sense for you to be so much faster in the corners and so much slower on the straights. That's just illogical and unsafe. You deserve more air. Let's hope the big manufacturer politics doesn't get in the way of the right decision...

If that pic was a little grainy, I'd expect a McLaren M8 or Lola T70 to be nearby.

It's interesting that shape wise she works very well as a modern race car with great downforce and balance.

At VMAX she makes her weight in downforce. In the day our Ford MK-IV for example made 952 lbs. of lift at VMAX.

I can't recall if there was already such a figure in this thread, but I'm curious what those numbers are for such designed-by-eye (and sliderule) era cars as 250/275LM, P3/4, M8, T70, etc. are, as well as drag.
Your guys did a fantastic job of keeping the look for that era intact in the P4/5C. It's so much more organic, and less clinical, which just adds to the interest.
The science to back-up that essence must be close, yet the MK-IV example says that it wasn't all that it seemed in the past.

Holey-moley! Wow!.....

I knew you weren't making DF back then, but I had no idea they were generating that much lift - Dayum - That's what, 40% of the cars weight? No wonder they were sliding all over the shop! Must have made for some *very* light steering.

Great info, thanks for posting.

Cheers,
Ian

At speed the steering in 60's era prototypes gets VERY light. The only one we put into the wind tunnel was Dino Competizione and we did it at low speed because the lift was so high that we were afraid that we'd bend the chassis if we cranked the wind tunnel up with the car tied down.

Picks-jaw-up-from-floor! That's borderline insane. Again, wow, just wow!

Cheers,
Ian
