Price seems in line with what it is worth. Gotta remember that car is 16 years old now and still going for 35% of MSRP.

The dealer Canillo Motorsports is selling the car, why not call them up and ask what's missing and ask them for a history?

That's closer to the price that I thought that they would start at...may end up at $80K but thought that a '91 would start above $90K.

Sure $90k for a car with lower miles. For a 1991 Diablo with 29,000 miles in the autotrader ad, the $79k price is pretty reasonable and not above or below value.

problem with this lambo is there is no history on it and it's missing parts off the engine bay like the cover over the manifold and some other items.

That is how the engine of the older Diablos look like. From what I can see from the engine compartment picture, everything seems intact. He did paint the intake "Lamborghini" name yellow. The dash you can easily repainted back to black.

Interior kills the price. Car is a dog. It would take a ton of money to put it back together correctly just from what I can see. Yes, you could repaint the dash but where's the original steering wheel... and what did he do with wiring from the dual horns? I'm sure there are many more surprises with the car.

The 2WD's can have gremlins, but once sorted out it's a very reliable and solid car. Usually owner neglect and unqualified service history are easily spotted and kills the price. I think this is the case here.

Yellow painting on the valve covers is a personal decision, but the cover plate (and who knows what else) seems to be home made. With the cover on you should be able to see both fuel regulators, like this:

Maybe it's just me...I haven't ducked my head inside an early Diablo in a very long time but that gauge cluster (in front of the steering wheel) looks very tall and out of proportion. Am I wrong?

It's stock, really tall yes, but that's how the early ones were.

The VT got a new dash, then the regular Diablo got it after that.
