Once in a while, you find a gem. Sometimes a certain motorbike, snow skis, aeroplane, car, etc etc. you know what I mean? It just feels right...hits all the right buttons.

Well, today I drove my 355. It's a gem. Easy to drive, looks great, sounds sensational...it's just a delight to drive and own. I think Roman's onto something with the manual gearbox thing. The clack clack on the gate with the (occasional) perfect heel/toe downchange...windows down...yummy.

AHG always said "Peter, that car's a keeper" He was right. I've never driven a car that's given me such joy without having to drive it at suicide speeds.

Hey Moretti...you should buy one :)

    can't afford the petrol :(

they are the best and a definite keeper

the qv will be a keeper too I think, once I get the fuel problem fixed, and the nut behind the wheel gets sorted (I think the nut is cross-threaded , he's not mixing with the other children very well)

yes, i'd much rather hear about the qv (or the gt4) or even aircons 355 than some of the OT stuff on here at the moment.

Which is of course the reason F-Chat has such a poor rep in some circles.
    Far too much dribble lately.

Amazing how well a car with a diagonal twist that preloads the antiroll bars so much (once cornerweighted) can drive....

Imagine what a straight one would drive like...

Its a nice post... I understand what you are getting at, although I havent managed to find oneness with a Ferrari... a Fiat 128 came close once, when I was young and knew no better...

It would be nice to find the "perfect" car, like a pair of old shoes, comfortable, yet does everything you want it to do, in style, while giving pleasure...

oh god...here we go again!! so now it's not straight, hey? well...it's more straight than one that it was measured/compared with...and that one was straight out of the showroom! i guess they're just made crooked. probably a bit like you and your business eithics?

moderator...ban phil...he's saying mean things about my car....waaaaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhhhh!!!!

p.s. that was a joke about phil and his business ethics. he has no ethics to be crooked.

p.p.s that was a joke about him having no ethics. he has them, he just doesn't display them.

p.p.p.s. that was a joke about phil not displaying his business ethics. he does in fact display them, just not to me or anyone else i know.

p.p.p.p.s. that was a joke about me knowing anyone.

doesn't matter if it's a car or a roller skate. when it fits, it's just a nice feeling.

    You know it's not straight.

You saw me set ride heights from the chassis points and then corner weights, and then we discussed making adjustable anti roll bar drop links to compensate for the twist and pre load on the bars.

I also showed you the sticky tape (that was still on the floor) that showed the drop check results, that were uneven, and you also chose to leave the unfinished repairs to the rear subframe.. where the welding of the new bar by the oil tank is not done at all....

I would go A over T on a roller skate but I get what you mean.

I inherited a riced up WRX company car (till it got nicked) and didnt enjoy the experience... sure it was seriously quick (320bhp at the wheels on the MRT dyno), but it didnt connect.. too much on boost/off boost... a pain in traffic...

Perhaps I am yet to find the 'right' car....

    A question...

How does a car that is not straight, and/or have issues with its suspension mounting points... pass its annual registration inspection each year?

im not starting anything here, as i know PP can be a bit of a $#!t stirer, however, he actually just posted a good post about his car, and his opinion compared with some of the more recent vehicles, and it seems that you guys are baiting him into confrontation?

and yes i think the 355 will always be a keeper,

I am not baiting him. I agree with your description of the thread posts...

What do you do with a classic when it gets a little old though? A Ferrari can live forever, but Aircon has mentioned he gets a fair few miles up on the red rocket... what do you do when she is no longer able to be viably maintained??

There is no annual inspection in Victoria.

And chassis twist is not measurable on a typical roadworthy inspection anyway.

AND, the fact that it is twisted, makes no difference anyway, it drives ok and is safe. there's no law saying it HAS to be straight.

I owned a car once that had to get its roof replaced after hail damage. it was a really lousy panel job because the car didnt like going in a stratight line after that. Wouldnt track straight down a flat piece of road.

Is this what a chassis twist would also do, make the car not track straight?
