The Olympic Torch, designed by Pininfarina, arrived at Maranello today; for the 36th stop of the torch bearers' run from Rome towards Turin. The emblem of the Torino 2006 Winter Olympic Games passed through the streets of the Prancing Horse where it ideally celebrated the long lasting and prolific relationship between Pininfarina and the most known and representative brand of the Italian exellence in the world, Ferrari.

The Torch Beared arrived at Maranello coming from Modena around noon at the Via Giardini and Abetone Inferiore where the flame was delivered by Dario Benuzzi (Chief Test Driver of Ferrari GT's) to the front of the historical entrance of the Ferrari plant and then inside the factory, where it was handed over to the official test driver of Scuderia Ferrari, Luca Badoer. He brough the Torch in a red 430 Spider, driven by Armedeo Felisa, Vice Genaral Manager of Ferrari. The Torch proceeded through the Ferrari Galleria, where a short press meeting was held. Next stop was in the town streets, this leg of the journey, unlike the one inside Ferrari, was visible by the general public.

The transit of the Torch through Maranello was part of a run that crossed nine communes and four provinces on January 14th. Today's run also involved Modena, Formigone, Fiorano Modenese, Sassuolo, Casalgrande, Reggio Emilia, Sant Ilario d'Enza and Parma where it arrived in the afternoon.

It left from Rome on 8th december 2005 and is still on it's way to Turin...

I never really was interested in the olympics. I tried. I really did but watching a couple of other countries battle it out in bobsledding just doesn't do it for me. My loss I guess.

Yeah I know what you mean. I like the summer olympics but the winter olympics are kind of boring I think.

    Sorry if this a repost!

The olympic torch rode in style on Saturday in a Ferrari as the torch continued it's trek towards Turin for the Winter Games. Luca Badoer, the test driver for Ferrari's Formula One team, received the flame from a torchbearer and drove it slowly through the company's headquarters in a red Ferrari F-430 Spider.

From Maranello, the torch moved towards Reggio Emilia and Parma, where the day's travel ended.

The torch moves east toward Venice Sunday and will continue traveling through Italy until it ignites the Olympic Cauldron at the Opening Ceremonies February 10th in Turin.
