I believe these are #0858 and 0860. Maybe someone could elaborate.

I took these photos myself in Southern Florida.

I'm pretty sure the one in front was a P3, converted to a P4 and then converted into CanAm form. The one in the rear was a P4 with bodywork modified for CanAm.........

At one point the cars were being stored by Tim Stanford in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Mr. Obrist had loaned Medlin money and Medlin put the cars up as collateral. I believe Tim got them running and kept them until the matter was settled. Medlin purchased many car from Chinetti when his family sold land to Walt Disney for Disney World in Orlando.

The first car looks like 0858 to me, but that car started off as a 330 P4 not a 330 P3.

I want to say that the car in the back is 0844.

    Thankyou,

I was wheeled over to this undisclosed place with the utmost secrecy as they wanted us to see the "real deal" after looking at the ones we were reconstructing.

    No longer here
At one point Medlin's P3 NART (0844) and P4 CanAm (0858) were stored in Jacksonville, Florida, at Kitt Tucker's bank. That bank ultimately failed, as I recall, and there were a couple of people who thought they were going to get the two P cars for "next to nothing" as one of them bragged to a small crowd of his friends at a party. "I had my hands on 'em today". (He was not a Ferrari guy, by the way.)

Unfortunately his voice carried a bit, and someone else at the party called his CPA, who not by coincidence was also Medlin's CPA. Legal means were found to retrieve the cars the next day, and unfortunately the hero/rescuer lost the opportunity to make all that money.

One car, the P3/0844, was eventully sold and has been rebodied as a coupe. The P4 still carries the CanAm body, still belongs to Walter (don't ever believe that one of these IRS auctions is really going to happen), but is in other hands right now. As an aside, Walter is entirely sane and lucid -- it would just take way too long to explain him here. Everything he has goes into his developments. Some day, that elusive point in the future, he'll retire and finally restore his cars and enjoy life. Someday.

    O.G.

P.S. Walter's "family" didn't own any land in Florida. Walter put that deal together, and had options or ownership of some of the land which became Disney World. The real story is much more interesting than family ownership.

Thanks Old Guy. I am far from an expert but that P4 in the picture did remind me of Medlin's car. Although it retains the same set-up, has it been retored or partly restored since these photo's? Previous pics of Medlins car doesnt seem to show as much "patina". Maybe it's just me.

Oh and Speedmore...thank you kindly for sharing these pics. Its awesome seeing them in this state.

    Cheers,

    Vasco

Thanks for clearing all that up! My info came from someone close to Obrist.
I have attached some photos of a 412P #0850. The engine block was stamped "412P No.1" along with the serial number. It was a fun car to work on.

WOW great pics!! Thanks for posting!

I realy love these CanAm cars! It's a pitty that only one is left!
Does anybody have "newer" pics of 0858 and would like to post them? Or some of 0844 when it still had the CanAm body?

412P/ 0844 not P3/0844. Before 0844 was sold by S.p.A. to NART it was converted from a P3 to a 412P. It's P3 parts (Mechanical FI) wound up somewhere else probably on 0856, 0858, or 0860. (0846 retained her FI which was mounted to the Typo 237 P4 engine when she was converted to a P3/4 in December 1967.

The second 'Goodwood' photo is 412P s/n 0850 again, now in yellow; but the first appears to be Nick Mason's 512S (that oil-cooler outlet on the nose).
