    Hi,

As some of you may know I am planning to buy a Ferrari 348 hopefully RHD and late model as possible at the end of Feb’06(can’t wait!!). I have been doing allot of research on the forums and reading buyers guide and I have come to the conclusion that if you buy a peach the car shouldn’t give you that much hassle as long as you service it and look after it. Now I am planning to see as many cars as I can at the end of Feb’ and the make a short list of the ones I feel that fit the bill or look and sound decent. However that is far as my expertise goes!! So I was wondering if someone who knows more about these cars or knows what they are looking for will please come with to view the cars on my shortlist. I will of course pay them for there time!!

I fell in love with the 348 since I was in my teens after I saw and heard one, in my opinion they are one of the best looking Ferrari’s ever and finally may get my hands on one.

If someone who may own one of these beautiful cars want take me for spin I will be so grateful because I have never been in.

Thanks for taking the time to read this topic and hopefully I will get few replies.

    Cheers,

    Amo

P.S. By the why I am located in the UK and have posted this topic both in the 348 section and the UK section.

I can't help you with 348's but many of the well respected independents will evaluate your car. Kent High Performance checked mine over and gave it the thumbs up. If you do this and take along an experienced owner you should have all bases covered. Good idea to either fill in your profile or reply with your location.

Good luck and enjoy the hunt!

Damnmn; too far away to offer you a spin, but should you find yourself down the South East......

And I have only owned my 348 for a few weeks, so I can offer little in the way of advice (but I know how to fix it if the reversing light comes on in second; pauses to pat myself on the back!).

There is a user on here who is selling his 348 and it is a peach. Drop me an email and I'll send you more info...

    Try Nick Cartwright,

Not used them myself and their prices can seem high, however they seem to have a very good reputation with people who have bought from them. Maybe it would be worth having a drive over one day and having a chat about buying a 348 and what to look for. It may even be possible to blag a test drive if your lucky.

Feel free to drop me a PM if you need any advise.

    Regards

    Julian

Thanks for all the replies. But is anyone up for coming with to view few cars round the end of Feb? I will pay them for their time. I just want someone who knows their way round the car to have good look at it and then tell me in their opnion if it is worth getting a professional check on it.

I should really buy trade but I want the best example I can get and usually you get a better car for the money going private.

If you end up looking at a car in the northwest (draw a 50 mile circle round chester) either I can come out to look it over for you or one of our technicians can have a look at it for you, my contact details can be found on

    www.csoffroad.co.uk

If the cars near Brum give Dales work a call and pay them to get Dale to look it over.

If the cars in the South try either Verdi's or QV for an inspection

    Good luck

    Hi,
My 2nd post, somehow my 1st one got deleted, and fairly new to this forum.
I'm potentially am interested in a 348 and would buy maybe in Jan. How is the tb rated vs the ts. Personally would prefer the tb in the ts leaks.
I would go private as well for better value for money.
Have never owned a Ferrari, currently on my 2nd Porsche, a GT3, and would love to have a Ferrari. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who have owned both. What is reliability of a 348 like and how much is maintainance likely to be at say 3-4000miles per year.
I live in Canary Wharf and if anybody is willing to show me what an excellent example of a 348 looks and feels like, I would very much welcome it.
    Thanks.

If there driven regularly there very reliable, running costs are around the same as your GT3 for petrol / tyres / brakes / insurance,
budget around £750 a year for Servicing with a contingency of a few £k in the piggy bank in case anything major goes wrong, and a realistic £2k - £3k every 18k miles or 3-4 years for a mjor service with timing belts (it should cost £1500 but there's nearly always something else to do when the drivetrain's out!). Like with your Gt3 you can always spend more on non essential work
With the exception of the cambelt service not a great deal of difference to your GT3.

Ps Could you please fill in your profile, you don't have to go into great detail just enough for people to have an idea of who there talking to :)
