    Texas!
Man, have I got da blues.

    Rob, sez I'm negative.

He say dat I stick in da mud.

I decide that I gotta git a brand new bag.

    So here's the deal --

My budget is no mo than $25,000

    It's gotta be cool.

It can be a bike or a car.

If it is a car, its gotta have A/C. It is hot in H-Town, Baby.

It can't be a Miata cause I already got one that is headed for the track.

It doesn't have to be a sports car, though a G-50 Porsche would be mighty cool.

    Maybe a Caddy.

    Maybe a Roller.

Did I say that it's gotta be cool?

Oh, and yea, it's gotta drive by itself. The good doctor ain't got the time to play da Carreaper blues.

    S-o-o-o, what do you suggest?

While you thinking, here are some licks from my man from way down in Macon town --

    *****

Come here sister.....Papa's in the swing
He ain't too hip...about that new breed babe
    He ain't no drag
Papa's got a brand new bag

Come here mama....and dig this crazy scene
He's not too fancy....but his line is pretty clean
    He ain't no drag.
Papa's got a brand new bag

    He's doing the Jerk....
    He's doing the Fly
Don't play him cheap 'cause you know he ain't shy
He's doing the Monkey, the Mashed Potatoes, Jump back Jack, See you later
    alligator.

Best you would probably see for a decent driver 964 turbo would be low 30's.
    You could get a decent driver 930 for high 20's or a mint 87 N/A 911 with G-50 tranny for mid 20's.

The Who has already done the Porsche twin turbo thing. He wants some thing DIFFERENT.

20K will get you a team of 4 matched mules, good for parades and wagon train reenactments.

I think about this all the time when I ride the bus.
Nothing like big ol' Merken Iron to cure dem blues, less fiddly if needs some fixin, you the dog drivin a lug like that in Tex-Ass. (Remember the Lyndon Johnson years, when NASA was a happenin' place and hairspray was still a hot commodity). Only downside- driving the thing.
Me, now if it were me, I'd stuff my ass into an old Morgan with webers, one someone else had already spent the money on, think faux 'supersport' with a banjo wheel, an old style dash and real pre-war flair.
But, i gotta agree with some of the others here, 930 P car has my vote, but a good one is probably well in excess of your budget. Oh, and I always loved the old Citroen Pallas, but that would be more trouble, i think, than a riot in Paris with Chirac at your side.

Here's a Morgan in the zone of what i was describing:

How about something from the Mopar boys?

1957-1958 Dodge coupes (big fins and V8s). By 1960 they were ugly again, and the other brands (desoto, plymouth, chrysler) didn't have as clean a line.

1964 Dodge Polara coupe, clean early musclecar lines, with enough motor options to confuse anyone. The BIG motors will be out of your range, but there was a series of smaller V8s
