212 Export Station Wagon - s/n 0086E
Hello
I hope to get some comments relating my two postings in the thread "Daytona Wagon". Here is the story of another Ferrari Station Wagon based on a 212 Export, fixed originally with a Fontana body - s/n 0086E This car was several times rebodied, also 1951 into a Station Wagon by Vignale, used as a spareparts transporter for the Carrera Panamericana Mexico in Nov. 1951 - before it was rebodied again into a Spyder. Details can be found in Marcel Massini's book "Ferrari by Vignale" on page 83/84. You can get a scale model from Brianza - they made 100 pieces only. I think the story is not correct up to now:
0086E started life as a spyder with bodywork by Paolo Fontana of Padua en got the nickname 'Sicilian Cart' because of its 'ugly' appearance. But it won it's first race (The 1951 Tour of Sicilia). In 1951 it was rebodied by Vignale with a body similar to 0076E. Shortly after that is was rebodied as Wagon (Giardinetta) by Fontana again. Then it was rebodied again as a spider by Fontana again. So it wore a Vignale body for a very short peiode of time. Joop van der Meer |

Since we're in the 'Wagon mood' I'd like to show a rarely seen
rebody by Felber of Switzerland. It was done on a 365 GT/4 2+2. Maybe not everybody's taste, but interesting. It was called Ferrari Croisette and still survives in Switzerland. Joop van der Meer |

ooops, I only mixed the coachbuilder for the wagon version: yes sure, it was Fontana - not Vignale. Wayne: FEO is "Ferrari Automobili 1947-1953" by Orsini/Zagari PeG ?? |
