I have just been offered a -98: 550 Maranello "Shumacher Edition". Can anyone tell me what this is ? Seller claiming it is one of just 15 produced. Red body with grey (?) all-leather interior. 26000 km. -What is the right price ?
It comes with Fiorano package, sport exhaust, sport-/ bucket seats, 4-point seat belts etc (well, to me it is like someone having an Armani suit wearing tennis shues... Should I go for it anyway, as an investment ?
    Comments / questions ?

Anders, I believe if you do a search you'll find some info. on this. Personally I like the all the 'sport' options however, I wouldn't purchase it just for the investment aspect. Purchase the car that you want to own.

I'll second that advice: buy the car if you like it and it is in good condition with clean service records, and make sure that you have a long enough test drive to figure out if the sports seats are your thing and fit your anatomy well (width, padding). I'd pay zero premium for a special edition.
Consider also the practical aspects: I do not believe they have a reclining latch, which makes access to the rear deck and storage space behind the seats (you can easily put a laptop or camera bag there).
Fiorano kit is generally considered to be a good thing (although less vital than on 575s), and the sport exhaust may spare you the expense of a Tubi if it's a bit less bland than the OEM mufflers.

There are tons of 550s on the market, it's worth having the patience to find the right car for you.

Thanks for the advice guys, but that´s of course all common practice.
I am more interessted in "what IS the Schumi Package" ? -and is it true that only 15 carse were built ? What is the market price ?
I have been searching all over, but so far, the result has been very poor.
Found one similar car in UK, but the questions remains, as the dealer cold not answer them.
    All the best,
    Andy

I think dealers call it the Schumi package just to identify the options on it.
    M. Schumacher once owned (still owns?) a red over grey 550 Maranello equiped with a lot of options to his own taste. The car was pictured in the large format "Carrozzeria Scaglietti programm" brochure Ferrari issued some years ago, I believe in 1998.

His car was red (rosso corsa) with a grey leather interior, raceseats, roll bar trimmed in leather, carbon inserts, and some more options done to it. Perhaps some customers ordered a 550 to the exact same standards as Schumachers car, but I really don´t believe it was a limited special edition made on purpose by Ferrari themselves. The cars in the brochure (550, F355 and 456) were just mere examples on how customers could personalize their Ferraris with the Carrozzeria Scaglietti options programm.

I have no idea how many 550s were built to this specification.

Regarding price, I don't believe these cars commanded a premium in the pre owned market. Additionally, sport seats especially in the 550/575 will typically effect the salability of the car. A car speced out as this one is very specific and will attract a race oriented buyer. Definitely my kind of 550!
