In 2001 Ferrari recalled all 550 Maranello magnesium wheels due to the wheel bolt inserts cracking. The magnesium wheels were replaced with aluminum wheels and new bolts.

Question: Looking at photos, how can I tell if a bare 550 wheel is a recalled magnesium wheel, or the replacement aluminum version? Does anyone have the Speedline or Ferrari part numbers?

You need to look at the inside on the spoke. If the inside of the spoke is recessed then it is aluminum. If it is solid then it is the magnesium.
