June 27 (Bloomberg) -- A German businessman is suing Ferrari SpA because he claims his new sports car doesn't reach the top speed of 300 kilometers (180 miles) per hour advertised in the company's brochure, Bild Zeitung said, citing the man. The 60 year-old driver from Berlin, identified only as Joerg W., told the newspaper that his Ferrari Challenge Stradale car can't go faster than 282 kilometers per hour and he wants a refund. The man paid 168,115 euros ($204,427) for the vehicle and waited 18 months for it to be delivered, Bild reported. Ferrari, which is controlled by Fiat SpA and makes the Formula One racing car driven by Michael Schumacher, is refusing to give Joerg W. his money back, according to Bild. The dispute will now be decided by a local court.
Its a very good point actually. I suggest CS owners do what I did and get their cars dynoed. I then suggest they sit down with a box of tissues and perhaps a bottle of brandy. I have the Tubi NGT, Tubi sport cats, Tubi filters and challenge ram intake. All of these gave an improvement but if the starting point is considerably lower than what you expect, you are still not going to be happy. Whether you have the mods or not, the chances are that you will not be pleased. I would be interested to see how many CS owners break the 400hp mark, let alone get to 425hp.
i have been told by a few ferrari mechanics that hp on ferraris can vary significantly and some ferraris are significantly below stated hp figures....i can tell you that the severa 355s that i have driven did feel like they had 380hp, where as 997s porsche, with supposed 355 hp, was much faster than the 355s and even quicker than the 360s that i have driven...do figure
well, he has the right... If you place an order, the waiting period should assure you that you are getting exactly, what you ordered... Ofcourse most of use wouldn't make that an issue, but sure, he has a point.
Ford several years ago got a lot of bad press when their Mustang Cobra didn't put out the advertised horsepower. I believe Ford reimbursed the owners with a cash payout. Michael
I know were he is coming from. I first put a deposit on a MV F41000 long before it was made, mainly becourse MV Agusta said that it was going to be the fastest super bike in production, and all the magazines agreed. Now i have it, things are not what they said. And yes it has more power than my 750 MV F4 and is a great looking bike along with its sister, but thats not why i slaped down a large wedge on the deposit in the first place. The Bloody Italians
You must pass the redline and push it up against the rev-limiter in top gear to hit true top speed in a CS, if you just go to redline the car only does about 175. If he really only cares about top speed he should change the gearing.
LoL, that's about right. it was during the vegas challenge race when my car was shipped there. friday night we chilled at whiskey bar @ green ranch valley, finished 3 bottles. 3:30am driving back to hotel, empty highway, CS, gallado, 360 ... u figure out the rest.
Well...who buy the CS for its top speed anyway??? The guy might have a point, but it's not what we should cry over. The HP figure is more concern here. But, hey... I am happy with my CS. It may have 425 dog power, but it's still plenty quick (not fast) for me. Yeh, I would love more power at lower and middle rpm, but I can drop one gear and compensate for small torque figure. My R34 GTR with 371 whp feels much slower than the CS with 425 hp (power to weight ratio is just so much different). By the way, I thought the CS engine is a blueprinted engine, meaning a lot less variable between each engine. The power figure between each one of them should be very close then.
The point is that the car is probably not producing 425hp or anything near it. Mine isnt. It was dynoed for 380hp. I know of another car which also showed 380hp. How many other CS owners have actually dynoed their cars? And more importantly after buying the CS how many would be happy with a 380hp output?
