I know there are a few of you (especially Paul S. himself) who will claim that I've banned Paul in an attempt to quiet the opposition to Jim G.'s claims of his car being built on the chassis remains of P3/4 0846. The truth is that, in spite of constant urging by most of you to do exactly that, I've been the biggest supporter of Paul's right to openly state his opinions regardless of how unpopular those opinions were or how heated the resulting threads became. So, to clarify, this has nothing to do with his ban.

About this same time last year a mysterious user who went by the name Cognoscenti appeared and seemed to serve no purpose and have no interest in F-Chat other than to agree with Paul. His first post, for example, was:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=67310809&postcount=24

I immediately suspected that it was Paul using a sock puppet to further his cause, but couldn't pin him down because he was accessing F-Chat via his AOL web browser, which which uses a proxy IP system that makes it impossible to identify sock puppets.

Over the past year, Cognoscenti has only made 10 posts (all can be seen here for those who are interested), all via the AOL browser, except for his last two. These two came from a specific IP address that has only ever been used by one other F-Chatter: P4Replica.

After going back through Cognoscenti's posts, it's disappointing to find stuff like this post made while Paul's account was temporarily banned and had been warned by Rob not to create an alias:

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=134279318&postcount=86

Anyway, for those of you who will celebrate Paul's absence, go ahead and celebrate. As for me, I'm just disappointed.

I'm locking this thread because we don't need any comments on this and the Vintage forum doesn't need a Paul-bashing thread.
