"Before unveiling the Enzo at the 2002 Paris Motor Show, Ferrari had been working for three years to transfer their F1 expertise to a road car. During the development, three prototypes had been made: the M1, the M2 and the M3, #90865, that we present here."

"The body is derived from the model 348 (type F119AB), with modifications to the rear sub frame deriving from the F131 prototype, lengthened by approximately 250 millimeters in order to fit the F140 A-Type V12 engine. In production, the F 140 B was used, with integral block and other small differences. In the engine bay, one notices in particular the large welded aluminum air box, replaced in production by a carbon fiber one. The oil radiator is from the 550 and its position in the production model had not yet been determined."

"With parts from the 348, 355 and 360, this car was disguised to drive through the streets of Maranello. It uses a the Enzo's engine and transmission and is being offered by Sotherbys as a complete and running car."

    price of US$ 150,000-190,000 (estimate)

I couldnt work out which photo's related to that and assumed that the attached photo was a mod'd 348 - doesnt look remotely like what I'd imagine a 2002 Enzo prototype to look like (except the exhausts)

If this car can be had for the $180-$190 range as they are suggesting, could you then have the car rebodied by a reputable coach company to real Enzo standards? Scaglietti perhaps? Would the cost be prohibitive? Just a far-out fantasy question.

    It was just a question.

Many notable cars are one-off bodies. Think of all the Zagato AMs.

A rebody's not going to work. It's a 348 with modified rear sections serving as an engine-test mule. The Enzo construction is totally different.

It's probably the quickest and fastest 348 ever. A factory built hotrod.

Well, i guess it's a pretty ugly car.

If you want a project, get a crap 348, throw in a 575 engine and that's it.

Don't forget it's a development car, not really a prototype or a pre-serie. It means that it has only some components of the future Enzo. Therefore rebuilding it in an Enzo has absolutely no sense.

there is no way this car will sell for the estimate. based on the fact that ferrari rarely sells prototypes, it will sell for much more than the estimate.

I think it looks better with a longer wheel base and wider rear compared to a stock 348. Just give it a fresh coat of paint and get the body gap lines even and it will look awesome.
