Its just a seat!!!! I'm sorry, its just that believe it or not, I've heard this before from my own girlfriend in my OWN house.

I call BS. Seats should be up. That's the natural order of things.

I long ago accepted that women assume too much and just put the lid/seat down out of habit. As a bonus, this probably gets under their skin in a different way, but can't be argued or complained about. Just call me Mr. Passive Aggressive.

Future home designs will incorporate urinals, however. I've given some serious consideration to separate bathrooms altogether, with the men's room being completely stainless steel (not to mention the floor drain and hose for easy clean-up).

Having lived many years on ships it was a good idea to put the seat down as it makes a hell of a noise when it comes down by itself when the ship starts to roll (Murphy's Law decrees that this happens when you are asleep).

My wife wants the seat down with the excuse that it looks better. I retailated that following the same line of reasoning then she should put the lid down. I now insist that she does this and it is impossible for her to argue.

just do as she asks.

Leave the seat down. Then piss all over it. When she complains, tell her you were just trying to do what she wanted.

When she explains what she really wants, offer to compromise... if you need it up, you flip it up. If she needs it down, she flips it down.

Or just do what I do - I sit down to pee, because for some reason leaning forward aggravates some metal hardware I have in my leg from a motorcycle accident.

My GF used to ***** about this. So for one month I would use the bathroom and not ever was the seat not to be found up when she went in. After the month she even commented that I was doing so much better. So I told her I found a sure fire way to remember to have the seat down. I just pissed in the sink.

The look alone was worth the month.
