I don't get it with beets. For those who like beets, what's the attraction? I can't get near this abomination of a vegetable!

They taste good, but more importantly if you eat enough of them, you will pee purple which is a GREAT party trick.

If you're pissing purple, sing "Purple rain, purple rain... "

Without beets, or parsnips, Borscht is an aborschtion.

It's the national soup of Ukrainia, but it's also one of the purple prides of a Jewish or Russian menu.

Other than having Borscht @40 times, (which goes really good with beer bread) I'm not a fan of beets, or parsnips. Ex-wife loved the damn beets, though. Though I should have been, I wasn't a wife-beeter.

As Russki russets go, if you haven't had a blue potato, you're missing out. Seriously - greatest potatoes on earth, bar none - all others are completely lacking.

Try a purple or black tomato. Several varieties/origins to choose from.

I was always grossed out by beets and had never tried them up until a year ago when my girlfriend at the time talked me into tasting one. I found that I like them and now eat them occasionally and the same girlfriend made me borscht with a big old dollup of sour cream in it and I found that very tasty.

I like beets. They're good for your blood, lots of iron. I put a bunch of them in salads. Yum yum!

Ginger roasted beets on skewers.. Or a beet salad tossed with vinigrette over butter lettuce.

I highly recommend the beet salad at Bistro Jeanty in your neck of the woods followed by the Cassoulet for main course. It might change your mind!

I can't stand it when I get a salad and it comes with beets. I pull them off and have all of the beet juice still on the salad that I have to eat. It's right up there with having to look at tenticles when the fried calimari comes to the table!

Yeah, I like a good pickeled beet now and again. I don't know, pickeled they don' taste like dirt, more like vinegar. They are not the best, but not the worst.
