I would like to change the engine oil sump cover gasket because it is leaking on my 81 308gtb US. The gasket needs to replaced (cracked) The pan drops down about a 1/2" and stops. Is there something else that needs to be removed to free the assembly? It looks from the drawings that it should clear the gear lever control shaft.... or is that tin oil defector attacted and hitting it? Can this be done without top side removal? I shure hope so.
    thx

This comes up so often it should be in the FAQ ;).

You need to remove the lower dipstick tube that protrudes down into sump and maybe the oil temp thermistor IIRC. (If you don't have the SPC go to the on-line FerrariUK SPC for a picture).
