Check this one out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4519457241&fromMakeTrack=true Anyone seen this black rocker treatment before? And check out the paint label.
Nice looking Boxer. The paint label on that car appears to be original and is EXACTLY like the reproduction ones on eBay, which I posted a thread about recently. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43957 Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car looks amazing in the pictures. I actually spoke to the dealer and it seems very good - belt service less than one year, lots of service history, new window motors. The interior has been redone, but only the seats, the dash and everything else are original. I wonder why a well kept 13k mile car needs a new interior? He's looking for around $100k. If I had the cash difference with my 308, I'd fly down and take a look
I was looking at the pictures and noticed the odometer states 21,833 while the stated mileage in text 13,440...don't know what to think...
I was going to mention the throttle pedal wear, but we are becoming such cynics on here!!!! Maybe older photos??? Trading out from under yours might make good sense, B. Of course they won't give you retail $$$$ on that either! *sigh*
13,440 miles calculates to 21629.58 Kilometers. So, I'd say the dash mileage is in KM. Wonderful car. Wish I had that kind of disposable cash. I normally hate tan dashes but I don't mind this one. Maybe it's the red carpet.
That makes a difference I think. My Fcar with blue carpet just seems to be calming............as opposed to the other colors.
I think the Daytona seats are different just have a similair pattern of inserts on the cushions, my car is a 1984 too and the seats are exactly the same as those, and they are the original seats steve Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's going to need new TRX tires all the way around at $400 a pop. Check out the rears. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice looking car! Interesting headliner... I assume it's original, I'm just used to seeing leather there. Also, no tools that I could see. Just the jack bag.
Not sure, but didn't the leather option include the seats, headliner and door inserts? Maybe when the seats were redone they switched them to all leather?
That's my impression. However, one thing about Ferrari-- give them enough money and they will do whatever you want.
Leather headliners were apparently an option. My factory invoice listed it as: Upholstery: Leather Beige 3218 "with sky in leather" 3218.
The headliner is most likely original - The material looks exactly the same as the material used on the rear deck of a 328. The ad description also says the leather is new. I really do love that interior - what a great combination.
That is the best looking Boxer I have ever seen. However, just once can someone describe the A/C as something other than "ice cold"? I mean, how about polar bear cold, Alaska cold, liquid nitrogen cold, (lately) Texas cold, or the ever popular wife's libedo after 12 years of marriage.....cold.
Headliner and inserts are original - the seat covers are not, as indicated. It bothers me when people redo just the seats and leave the original wool elsewhere - it makes it look odd and adds more textures/colors than were originally envisaged by the designers. For them to want 100k for this car, they should have gone the extra mile and replaced all the wool, or resisted the daytona-look seat upgrade altogether. The red carpet in that car adds to the dizzying color clash. Moreover, the red strips with the holes, while Daytona'esqe, never came on a Boxer. The strips were non-perforated. My car has the original wool seats and they do wear out (and fade) after twenty years. I recently had the drivers seat redone with the proper fabric as it had a small tear along a seam. I thought about upgrading the seats to all leather, but after I saw a few other "wool" cars with just the seats in all leather, decided it looked out of place. Glad I kept it original.....
My BB512i s/n:42213 came with cloth headliner/door inserts. The rest of the interior was tan leather except the seats had brown inserts along with a brown dash. The inserts did not extend to the head rests nor are they perforated. It is my understanding that the cloth for the headliner/door inserts for the Boxer were specially made for Ferrari by Armani and is impossible to find now. The stuff from ReOriginals is close, but not an exact match.
Frank, it is possible then that your seats were redone at some point and changed to all leather. With all the factory customizations possible however, it could be that the original owner opted for just the seats to be done that way from the factory. Does anyone know if the orderform was granular enough to specify material for door inserts and seats? We know from a previous post that the leather headliner was optional. The material that my interior guy used is an exact match - he had to wait months to get enough material to redo my seat. Whether it is made by Armani is a question I will pose to him, since he has been working on Ferrari interiors for decades and knows all those interesting little details. Interestingly, the redone seat looks better than the original passenger seat since the material is new and unfaded. He told me passenger seats always fade more since they unoccupied most of the time and the sunlight hits them while driving/parked. The size and angle of the Boxer windshield magnifies this.
I believe this may be the Boxer that I was in the process of buying in October 2003. Brian Butler of Laurel, Maryland was the owner and he spun it into a tree (destroying the passenger door and the rear quarter panel/clamshell) two days before the transport truck was to pick it up and deliver it to me. He refunded my deposit and I had not heard what became of the car. If Carbon or someone else at Ferrari Market Letter can confirm that #49577 was previously owned by Brian, then this car has BEEN WRECKED and rebuilt. Here's a picture of it when Brian owned it. Red with tan dash/interior, red carpets, rocker panel areas painted black, octagon wheel nuts, aftermarket exhaust (w/ longer tips like the eBay ad). It matches the car on eBay, except when Brian owned it, the seats did not have the red inserts. I have written him for his VIN#, but I don't know if the email address that I have is still good. "Grand Touring. Inc." in Laurel, Maryland would also be able to confirm if this is the same car or not. They had maintained it for several years and it was hauled to their shop after the wreck.
