Hi. My name is Cornelius Allen. I am a Dallas (Turtle Creek) business owner. Surprisingly, the little town I was born in, has given me more appreciation for Ferrari's since we have this small town dentist who owns a 360 Modena (Silver/Boreadux leather) and I must say it looks SWEET!

Now, as a highly regarded Ferrari enthusiasts, I want to know your opinion of a 19 year old purchasing this fine car. I have had my eyes on different 360 models (not 430...eww, dont like the rear end styling) and I have decided that I MUST have one. I cant live without having a Ferrari.

As such a young person, what do I need to be concerned with purschasing and owning this car (a 360)? I got sold on the looks (obviously), the sound, and its exclusitivity. I really want it so I can go back to my home town and show it off to the people who thought I wouldnt amount to anything. Am I wrong for thinking this?

Also, just a concern....For you 360M owners, it the car really that low when driving it? What is it like driving your 360 so low to the ground like that? Does driving behind 18 wheelers intimidate you?

Also, what kind of comments and reactions have you gotten from fellow motorists, and how should I treat them?

    thanks,
    CD Allen

Fill out your profile. If you don't own a house, and are trying to buy a 360, you are indeed too young/naive to own one. Take this advice, please. Buy a house. You can't live in a car. You'd be a lot cooler if you owned a home at 19 than if you owned a 360.

"I really want it so I can go back to my home town and show it off to the people who thought I wouldnt amount to anything. Am I wrong for thinking this?"

    YES

Sounds like you just want to get back at people. You only ask about what people would think about you while driving/owning the car. Don't put a car in the middle of it. See a shrink. Do you think about insurance and maitinence costs? Not to mention your inexperience with a high power car?

with all Ferraris & especially w the mid engine cars you can inspect the bottoms of most SUVs from where you sit, especially the lifted ones.

It can be a little intimidating when you have 5 careless housewives in SUVs talking on cell phones all around you. But thats what HP is there to cure :)

I would definately do research on insurance companies bcus if you are 19 they are really going to gouge you if they decide to insure you at all.

Also I would HIGHLY advise you attend a quality racing school like Skip Barber Before you buy the car. It can save your life & save you a lot of $ too

    Cornelius,

Welcome to the board. If the question is, "are you too young", my anwser is, no. Go for it............. That said, the issues the other posters brought up are very valid. If the question is, "is it the right thing to do", then we need more info to provide advice.

Presonaly I like the idea of house first. Purchase appreciating assets first.......

    Alright....

I am buying a home soon. It's going to be a townhome close to my office. Yes, I completely agree that owning a home is first priority. Its not even an issue.

With the Ferrari, I will definitely consider taking advanced driving school lession like Skip Barber. I once thought about that, so thanks for mentioning it.

I am fully aware of the high cost of insurance and maintenance on these babies. I have taken that into consideration....

To the gentleman that pulled that information up, you're quite mistakened.

I am still part of the Houston forum, in fact, I havent posted there in a looong time. I joined it because I was looking for residence in Houston at the time. As far as the Dallas forum...lol...I left that place....

No problems, just understand these cars need upkeep and be willing to potentially pay for the 4 and possibly even 5 digit repair bills, should something go amiss.

Remember not to spend all your money on toys. What do you drive now? (if you do not mind me asking)

    Hi there.

You should go rent a 360 and see what you think of it. It's only a few grand, and that will answer a lot of your questions.

    see http://www.exoticcarrental.info/dallas/index.php

If you like it, join up with the DFW Ferrari Club and go from there. Since all the 360s are used now, I can recommend Jonathan Peck over at Lamborghini of Dallas

Fair enough. Do understand many if not most people on this site at one time or another had some form of 'beater,' and it is not something to be embarrassed about.

Sorry dude, cant do that....You have to be 25 years of age to rent a Ferrari...sux, yeah i know....

and most car rental places, you have to be 21 anyway...so renting the Ferrari is out of the question....If I could, I would have already, believe me...lol

I will take the Driving School lessons. I feel really bad for the young owner of that car. But me, it may have been someone who was irresponsible. I personally, consider myself to be very mature and drive responsibly. I am nowhere near the image of a party-hardy teenager. I am a business man...so my age is just an indication of my time in the world, and not my maturity.

Will people be jealous of me? SHould I be concerned with potential car jackers? Im 5'7" 140 lbs. This could be a concern for me...
