Well as you can see, hanging 'out' with you guys on this site creates all sorts of compulsive behavior . . . actually an incurable illness . . . which is what drove me to begin this project on my main garage. While still not complete, (additional lighting, TV, artwork, etc.) it's about time I shared my madness with you!

First though a few thanks to some of the more influential members of the community who without knowing gave me direction and inspiration; CarreraScott, Doody, DigmanJ2, Mondial86, Roland, Alexpapas, Martin, Chris Parr, Rasaclif, F355b and of course Rob! Also special thanks to the gang at Kinesis Motorsport. Most of you know Kinesis for their spectacular sport and racing wheels however they're also dealers for Kiwi Tiles. After meeting up with them at Monterey I ended up sourcing my tiles through them receiving excellent advice and prompt service.

Now I need to get the 'F' baby for this crib!

Zach, I wanted to honor the history of the various design houses that have worked with Ferrari, feature my favorite models, and display other key words or places that have been associated with Ferrari through the decades.

Love "The Wall." And great rendition of the Scuderia Shields. Like you say, the only thing left to do is populate this lovely space with an F-Car.

As we like to say on the East Coast: Don't think...just do. ;)

    Staceman,

You are a complete lunatic, and for that reason I say I'd drink a beer with you and ask for your help when it comes time to build my own garage. :D

    Nice work!

Thanks for your responses. In answer to several posted questions:

I hired a local graphic artist to do the entire project. She arrived knowing nothing about Ferrari other than "it's a car . . . right" and left fairly well versed and appreciative of what we all know. In our first meeting I gave her a pretty good overview of Ferrari and provided her with several books and my glossary list. She then came back with a couple of drawings which we revised and then she got started. To get the shield just right Sharon projected an image on the wall and outlined it by hand. She pretty much freestyled the names, etc.

As to the paints used let me get back to you tonight.

As you can see from the first photos the floor was in bad shape. Whoever poured did a lousy job because it bleeds quite a bit. That and the cold winter months in Wisconsin made tiles an easy choice. So based upon recommendations from Doody and others I opted to use Kiwi Tiles ~ Perforated.

I happened to meet the owners from Kinesis Motorsports at Monterey in August. Along with their spectacular sport and racing wheels they're also dealers for Kiwi Tiles so I decided to source through them and received excellent advice and prompt service.

Also I couldn't believe how easy the installation was. All I really needed was gloves, knee pads, circle saw, a firm palm, and on the occasion that my strength failed me a rubber mallet! I highly recommend these tiles.

nwocorp ~ It's acutally Scuderia Terris (my last name.) Get it?

How do you know where to lay the first tile? Is it like floor tile in a house and you have to find the center of the room? Or can you start anywhere with the first tile? I noticed in one of the pictures there was some tile started in the upper left corner of the garage floor.

Jeff it's really quite simple. Kiwi Tiles have two sides with 'loops' & two sides with 'tabs'. I started from the right hand corner with the first tile having the loops facing to the left and down, tabs facing outward. Then laid subsequent tiles along the top and right hand and connected. The tile you see in the upper left is what I now need to trim with a circle saw to make the final fit. Although I've never laid floor this was exceptionally easy.
