Thanks to FChat member Rayjohns, I was able to replace my fuel sending unit. It wasn't that difficult, you just have to take your time. I would fill-up my gas tank and the fuel guage would read a little over half a tank, never full. Rayjohns has detail instructions on how to replace the sending unit (seach thread).

I wanted to let anyone that has this problem, you can do it yourself, just be patience and take your time. Posting a few pictures.

Yeah, I hate that I always am 2 bars short of full, but it doesn't annoy me enough yet to take on this task. I have that thread saved somewhere on how to do it. How long did it take you?

It took me about two and half hours, but I haven't put the side panel back on yet. I just filled it up and checked the area to make sure no leak. Just a few screws to put the panel on. I will finish this afternoon, but I want to do a little cleaning first.

Well done for taking it on and doing it yourself.

Did you simply replace the unit or were you able to service it and put it back into use?

I think it's a totally new upgraded float, but that is a very good question.

I did the Rayjohns DIY fix myself (a very well written piece with great pix, Thanks Rayjohns!!!) and yes, you do need to buy the newer sender/float assembly. I bought mine from Ferrari of Washington about four years ago for about $115 USD.

I feel this was an inexpensive fix that Ferrari should have done as a recall!!!!

I replaced the float in the picture below. Did not replace the entire sending unit, only the float which has 2 electrical wires. Paid $115 for the part.

Nicely done! Congrats. It's a nice feeling to see all those bars light up isn't it? :)

My pleasure. I'm happy to know that the thread was helpful to you (and to others) :)
