I just can not believe all the posters on here, who comment in the various Ferrari model forums and sections.......and do not even fill out their profile as to what cars they own......wether they be Ferrari's that are currently owned.......or they aspire to own.......or their other cars that are owned.

This is a car forum people.
What is with all the anonymity and secrecy of not listing what cars you own, or would like to own?........I find this very strange.

It is like showing up to a Coffee & Cars....without a car.....and participating as if you parked your Ferrari Ghost Car or Other Ghost Car in one of the parking stalls.........How do we know that you brought a car?.......we definitely can't see it.........non are listed in your profile.........pretty hard to see....... since the members who fill out their profiles can relate to and respect each other for actually sharing their ownership information with the entire forum.

It will be interesting in reading the responses to this thread from members with and without their profiles filled out.

ps. If you don't own a car, that's okay....maybe just list what you would like to own.
For the people that actually own F-cars and other brands......why are you holding out?....

What I find strange is people asking for help and don't tell us where they live. Sometimes it makes a big difference -- especially if they are overseas.

    Exactly.
It is almost as if people are afraid to divulge any information.......yet most people are on this forum trying to gain or get help & information.......this is one perspective that I have on this subject of Ghostly Presence.....

I always wondered why they kept their location secret. I would like to meet fellow owners to see their cars and show them mine. I go to the Car and Coffee location when I have the free time. It doesn’t matter if they have a car; I just enjoy showing mine and sharing the enthusiasm with others.

This is a tough call. The internet can be a dangerous place.

And many of the owners on this site keep their Ferrari ownership partially "in the closet" - they don't make it widely known to their friends, customers, or employees that they own a Ferrari.

So, I think the best approach is to put something in those profile fields, but maybe not fully detailed information. For example, in Full Name maybe just put your first name only. Or in Location, just put the State you live in (or Country if it is outside the USA).

But I agree, it is difficult to help people when they don't put anything in their profile.

Internet...too much info can be dangerous.
Profile, therefore does not contain much info anymore...used to be completely filled out.

If I pose a question I would put relevant info into the post, but if otherwise just commenting on some general topic why would my location or cars be of any significance?

Each situation is different. IMO there is some information that is harmless.

I have a filled out profile but don't own a Ferrari. If and when I get an Fcar or similar, I would not list it due safety concerns of my location.

I agree with you about the location info, unless it is relevant to a question that the "Ghost Profile" member has asked.

What I don't get.........are all these Ferrari Chat members that either DON'T own cars, or do not list what cars they OWN, have OWNED or would like to OWN.......but yet want to participate in commentaries in the various car forum topics.

I see your profile ownership information;I see you have a couple of vehicles and I respect that, as a member on a Ferrari Chat.

When I read posts offering information, repair advice or their perspective on the Ferrari marque; from a member with N/A across the board on their car ownership profile...........should I take their posts as NOT APPLICABLE?

I would really like to see and read comments from the N/A members.................I am not talking about members that disclose that they have cars, while they comment on threads.

I think some people have safety and privacy concerns. I'm using a utility called ghostery and other measures so sites cannot tell much about me.

Also, some may wrongly assume it's just a USA forum.

It can be intimidating when you log on with your old 911 and some guy has two enzos. Whats the point?

I think Jon might have just inadvertently disclosed he owns an "Old 911". Now he's going to get LOT'S of spam about Porsches.....Mark

    What???.........LOL
What does privacy and money have to do with what car you own, used to own or would like to own???
    I don't understand your analogy.
I hope that you have enjoyed or do enjoy your cars........whatever they are.

I thought we were here to talk about and share our car experiences; past, present & future......that's what I am here for.;)
